Police Parade Seized Weapons, Ritual Items

By Abisola Oluremi

The Oyo State Police Command has paraded a cache of recovered weapons, suspected ritual items, and stolen property recovered from suspected armed robbers across the state.

Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olugbenga Abimbola, said the exhibits reflected the scale and intensity of recent intelligence-driven operations by the command.

Items displayed included firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles, motorcycle parts, and materials suspected to be linked to ritual activities.

Mr Abimbola explained that the recoveries resulted from coordinated efforts by the Command Monitoring Unit and other tactical teams, leading to the disruption of vehicle theft syndicates, armed robbery gangs, kidnapping operations, and the recovery of diverted food items meant for government intervention programmes.

While stressing that the command prioritises recovering exhibits to strengthen investigations and prosecutions, he commended the residents for providing credible information that aided the command’s success.
