Elemide Cautions Against Roadside Obstruction

By Omolara Adasofunjo

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, Mr Oludaisi Elemide has cautioned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and the use of road shoulders for storing building materials.

The Speaker said the practices obstruct the free flow of traffic and pose risks to road users.

He gave the warning following a matter of urgent public importance raised by a lawmaker representing Sagamu Two State Constituency, Mr Ademola Adeniran.

Mr Adeniran reported that some residents dump building materials on road shoulders for extended periods, creating nuisance and damaging infrastructure.

He called for urgent intervention to address the situation and prevent further deterioration of roads.

Mr Adeniran also emphasised the need for residents to comply with environmental and traffic regulations to ensure safety and protect public infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has adopted the report of its Committee on Lands and Housing on revised regulations for the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr Damilola Soneye presented the report, seconded by Mr Lukman Adeleye.

House Leader, Mr Yusuf Sheriff moved the motion for its adoption as a resolution, which members unanimously supported through a voice vote.

The revised regulations aim to strengthen planning and development control across the state.

They include the Ogun State Building Production Management Regulation 2025, Planning and Development Permit Regulation 2025, Slum Regeneration Regulation 2025, Outdoor Physical Furniture Regulation 2025, and Layout and Land Subdivision Regulation 2025.

Following the adoption, the Speaker directed that copies of the resolution be transmitted to relevant authorities for necessary action.
