The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Oyo State, have pledged to strengthen collaboration on civic and voter education, ahead of next General Election.
This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the Zonal Director of FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Olufemi Fulani and his Committee of Management, to the Oyo State INEC office at Agodi GRA Secretariat, Ibadan
Addressing members of the Commission, Mr Fulani said silence from INEC would create room for misinformation to thrive, noting that the Commission should partner Radio Nigeria in sensitising the public.
The Zonal Director urged the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Rahmon Tella, to periodically appear on FRCN programmes, which include phone-in programmes, monthly personality interviews with INEC officials and stressed the need for the Commission to produce voter education jingles in English, Yoruba and other local languages.
Earlier, Dr Tella had described Radio Nigeria as one of the critical stakeholders in the electoral process, commending its consistent commitment to the dissemination of accurate, timely and balanced information during the electoral cycles.

The Commissioner said eligible citizens who have not completed their voter registration and have attained 18 years of age, those who have lost their cards, those seeking to change polling units, and those with damaged PVCs can apply for replacements.
Dr Tella also stressed the importance of synergy between the two critical stakeholders in voter education campaigns and ensure transparency before, during, and after the elections.
He congratulated the Zonal Director on his well-deserved appointment, describing it as a testament to his efforts, passion, and contribution to repositioning Radio Nigeria.
Present at the visit were members of the Committee of Management of FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station and that of INEC
