Celebrity designer Toyin Lawani has stepped into the spotlight with a striking fashion statement, positioning herself alongside global stars celebrating the Met Gala.
While Hollywood marks the iconic fashion event, Lawani is carving out her own moment. Taking to her Instagram page, the designer shared photos of herself in a dramatic chair-inspired costume, promising fans a personal take on the Met Gala experience.
“Take a seat.
Let the king of fashion take you to the Met Gala 2026 for the theme Fashion is Art”.
Last year, on Valentine’s Day, the mother of three shared photos of herself dressed in pepper from head to toe.
Two years ago, social media users made fun of Toyin over her look at AMVCA.
The celebrity designer rocked a sack bag to the award ceremony. Explaining why, she said that the devil tried, but he couldn’t stop her as she created the masterpiece in a few hours.
In 2023, during the Christmas celebration, the designer ditched the usual pyjamas for Christmas shoots and opted for a more creative and out-of-the-box outfit. The wife of Segun Wealth made a dress and a cape from 1000 pepper and 70 mops and shared the inspiration behind her outfit.
Her outfit no doubt caused a stir online as while some praised her for her creativity, others bashed her.
Reacting to the criticisms, Toyin told her haters to jump off a cliff, saying she is the King of Fashion,, while adding that fashion is pain.
Toyin’s created work got her recognition from American rapper, Cardi B. The fashion designer had shared a video of the rapper’s daughter rocking one of her outfits, hailing the young star. Toyin, who couldn’t believe her eyes, shared a video of the 5-year-old wearing a hand-painted jacket she designed as she expressed joy at finally being recognised internationally.
