Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with last Friday’s attack on Aagba Community, Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State.

This was made known in a release by the Nigeria Police Force,  Oyo State Command, signed by the Public Relations Officer, Adewale Oshifeso.

According to the statement, one Salawudeen Ismaila, aged 33, a native of the neighbouring Oko community, and eight other suspects have been apprehended and three unregistered motorcycles recovered.

The attack was allegedly perpetrated by residents of a neighbouring community over a long-standing land dispute.

The incident resulted in properties worth millions of Naira being looted and destroyed, death of a septuagenarian, Madam Rachael Bamidele and nine houses razed.

According to the Command, the attack was calculated and systematically carried out, targeting individuals involved in an ongoing civil litigation over the disputed land.

It further added that Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola had deployed the Command’s specialized intelligence and tactical assets to the village to ensure public safety.

It says normalcy have since returned to the village as the residents have gone back to their homes without fear of harassment or intimidation.
