The Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso said his administration if elected would leverage local content and Direct labour of indigenous contractors to build and improve Nigerian roads and infrastructures.
He stated this in Ibadan at the presidential parley organised by Southwest Development Stakeholders Forum to engage him on his planned programmes in relation to the Southwest region.
Alhaji Kwankwaso promised to improve on his achievements as two termed governor of Kano state to upgrade the education system through the provision of scholarships for students in public and private tertiary Institutions, payment of WAEC examination fees, an increase of JAMB result validity from one year to four years as well as recruit more teachers.
The NNPP Presidential candidate noted that his administration would tackle corruption in fuel subsidy, which brought about fuel scarcity, adding that fuel subsidies would be totally removed with the provision of palliatives to cushion the effect on the masses.
Earlier, in a remark, Director General, DAWN Commission, Mr Seye Oyeleye, advocated inclusiveness to enhance the rapid development of southwest and other regions of the federation.
Chairman of the forum and Publisher of Alaroye weekly magazine, Mr Alao Adedayo who said the forum was apolitical urged the presidential candidate to ensure regional needs and interests were accorded high priority if elected.
A total of five Presidential candidates which include Prince Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, PDP, Omoyele Sowore of AAC and Alhaji Kola Abiola of PRP had featured on the presidential parley series while presidential candidates of Labour party Peter Obi and All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu are being expected to feature on later dates.
