Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Sunday, swore in the newly elected Chairmen and their Vice Chairmen at the Government House, Okefia, Osogbo.
The governor said the people have expressed their wish by voting them in and they must not be disappointed.
He urged them to follow the development agenda of his government so that the people at the grassroots can enjoy the dividend of democracy.
Governor Adeleke urged the chairmen to stay away from the council secretariats to avoid any clash with those who had forcefully occupy the local government secretariats as government rely on the judiciary to ensure a peaceful removal of those illegally occupying the local government secretariats.
He commended the people of Osun state for their support for his administration and for demonstrating courage and passion to exercise their voting rights.
“Our thanks also goes to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission for discharging its mandate professionally and with all sense of responsibilities. We also commend security agencies and state officials who made the election a reality.
“I should not end this address without acknowledging the contributions of Mr President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I am most grateful to Mr. President for rejecting efforts by some forces to plunge Osun into chaos. I assure Mr President of our commitment to the rule of law and the constitution for conflict resolution and governance process”.
In a remark, the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde advised the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen to fulfill the promises they made for the people at the grassroots during their campaigns and build on the development agenda of Governor Adeleke.

Speaking on behalf of other Chairmen, the Chairman, Ifelodun local government, Mr. Sarafadeen Awotunde promised that the chairmen would build on the foundation developmental infrastructure agenda of the governor at the grassroots.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, former Governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Lasun Yusuf, Osun PDP members and other government functionaries
