He said the visit to Seriki Sasa and other stakeholders was in line with his plan to appreciate people who made the security architecture of Oyo State a seamless job for the police.

Mr Williams called for continuous support from the public to collectively wage war against insecurity in Nigeria, noting that the mutual relationship between the police and traditional rulers assisted the police to nip crime in the bud, especially during the elections.

He said though, there were challenges in fighting crime but with the mutual relationship among some stakeholders Oyo State was relatively calm, especially during the 2023 polls.

AIG Williams urged his hosts and the public to extend the love and support to the next commissioner of police in the state whenever he resumed.

On his part, the Chief Imam of Oyo State, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Agbotomokekere, whom AIG Williams also visited, said the police did well at ensuring that Oyo State was peaceful.

Also the AIG visited the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, at the Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan to appreciate the hand of love extended to him during his stay as the Police boss in Oyo.

He said journalists in the state really made his work easier through their balanced reportage on crimes.

AIG Williams therefore urged NUJ to extend the relationship to the next Commissioner of Police, who had not been announced by the Inspector General of Police.

Reacting, the NUJ Chairman in in the state, Mr Demola Babalola, who described AIG Williams as a media friendly officer, said the outgoing CP maintained a cordial journalists-police relationship and his tenure would be forever remembered.
