The Osun State Government and Canadian High Commission has consolidated economic partnership with a follow up bilateral talks between Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Canadian top diplomats in Lagos.

Governor Ademola Adeleke who led some government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Osun.

He pointed out that he has made a remarkable progress within his 10 months in office, including blocking revenue leakages, maintaining transparency, and practicing a government-citizens relationship.

Governor Adeleke explained that his visit was designed to reinforce conclusions reached during the High Commissioner’s visit to Osun State  and to brainstorm on his upcoming trip to Canada to meet Canadian sectoral investors.

“I also highlighted Osun’s strategic location in the Southwest, which facilitates the movement of agricultural produce”, the Governor was quoted as saying, adding that “our plans for a cargo airport, the presence of a sub-power station that will be a major benefit to be a manufacturing hub with the right investments, a free trade zone, and an economic zone.

Governor Adeleke assured the High Commissioner of the state government dedication to providing investors with a secure and supportive atmosphere for their ventures to flourish.

In a remark, the High Commissioner, James Christoff reiterated his earlier assurance of the Canadian government to deepen economic partnership with subnational entities across Nigeria and Africa.

The delegation was received by the High Commissioner, James Christoff, Deputy C.J. Scott, and their team in the trade and political section.

Recall that the Canadian High Commissioner, James Christoff had led his team at High Commission to Osun state five weeks ago during which sectoral teams of the Osun state government made presentations on potential partnership and collaboration between the state and Canada.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has urged intending pilgrims to this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to pray for the insecurity and economic revival of Nigeria during the holy pilgrimage.

Addressing the 1835 intending pilgrims, which is the highest in the history of Osun State, at a farewell programme organised for them held at State Secretariat Mosque Complex Abere, the Governor observed that the economic hardship and insecurity confronting the country require the concerted prayers of all and sundry.

Governor Adeleke, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, said the State Government would not tolerate any lapses during the Hajj operation.

He assured the Pilgrims that the State Government have make necessary provisions to make the pilgrimage a memorable one including securing an accommodation that is very close to the Ground Mosque in Makkah in a bid to make their stay comfortable in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Amirul-Hajj of Osun State, Sheik Morufu Ishola thanked Governor Adeleke for the support given to the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, urging all pilgrims to abide with the instructions given to them while in the Holy Land.

Osun State Government says all the relevant agencies will be fully involved in the planning and execution of the population census in the state to ensure its success.

The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye stated this at the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Population and Housing Census at the Exco Lounge, Governor’s Office, Abere, Osogbo.

Alhaji Igbalaye who noted that Osun State was under-represented in the figures published for the 1991 National Population Census said the committee was put together to ensure that facts and figures about the state are correctly compiled during the next census.

He pointed out that information on the size, distribution, and characteristics of a country’s population are essential for describing and assessing its economic, social, and demographic circumstances as well as for developing sound policies and programmes aimed at fostering the welfare of a country and its population.

Alhaji Igbalaye, therefore, directed the committee to map out appropriate sensitization and mobilization strategies for the activities of the National Population and Housing Census Exercise, to organize advocacy and sensitization programmes for local government functionaries, the media, and NGOs, on population and related issues.

He also urged the committee to regularly liaise with the National Population Commission in the state with a view to fashioning out strategies for an effective and acceptable population census.

In his remark, the Statistician General, Bureau of Statistics, Osun State, Mr Abiodun Ijidele said the committee would organize meetings with community heads to ensure that there are no intra- and inter-boundary disputes which may affect the census exercise.

Mr. Ijidele who is also the secretary of the committee advised Osun people not to leave their place of residence in order to be counted in their home towns.

Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye has called on Muslims to exploit the Holy Month of Ramadan to intensify concentrated prayers to the Almighty Allah.

While wishing all Muslims a successful Ibaadat (religious obligation), Alhaji Igbalaye, in a Ramadan message, urged them to use the period to rededicate their prayers to Almighty Allah in order to make life easier for all.

Osun Scribe also admonished Muslims to imbibe the teachings of the Holy month by being conscious of Allah and giving gifts to the needy and the less privileged.

He further urged the people to use the Ramadan period to repent from all sins and other social vices by following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

Alhaji Igbalaye also requested the Muslims to intercede for a total end to terrorism, armed banditry, kidnapping and other crimes bedevilling some parts of the country and the nation in general so that the people would benefit from the dividends of democracy.

He appealed to traders and people engaged in selling essential commodities to cut down prices throughout the blessed month and beyond so as to benefit from Allah’s rewards.

He assured the residents of Osun that the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke will continue to uphold all the Islamic norms and values, according to the teachings of Islam, to govern the state.

Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says he will give the necessary support for the success of the 2023 census.

The governor stated this at the inauguration of the State Census Security and Logistics Committee held at the Exco Lounge of the Governor’s Office, Abere.

Represented by the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, the governor said he will support the Committee with all necessary assistance for the successful conduct of 2023 Census.

While thanking all the service chiefs for their prompt response to security challenges in the State before, during and after the election, the governor charged them to do more for the State and for the entire nation as a whole.

He then assured that the State Government will give full support to the Committee in order to enable it perform the assignment efficiently and effectively.

In his remarks, Senator Mudashiru  Hussain stated that the Commission attaches great importance to the work of the Security and Logistics Committee in its quest to give Nigeria credible, reliable and acceptable Census data for national planning.

He then promised that the Commission will, without delay, organise workshop on processes and methodologies for the Census in order to get the stakeholders adequately mobilized for the assignment.

The Committee to be Chaired by the Mr. Governor, also has the SSG, Alhaji Igbalaye Teslim and the Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC), Senator Mudashiru Hussain as co-chairmen, while Mr. Owoye Martins is is the Secretary of the Committee.

The Osun State Government has declared Friday 24th February as a public holiday for residents and indigenes to travel to their hometowns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, the governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke gave the approval for the civil servants to also exercise their franchise.

The statement urged the civil servants to utilize the opportunity to go to the local government areas where they register as voters to participate in the electoral process.

The governor according to the statement, appealed to all residents to be law-abiding as they peacefully exercise their voting rights on Saturday and in subsequent elections.
