As a result of a six-day extension of the June 3 deadline for the conduct of political parties’ primaries by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has formally postponed its presidential convention.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, announced this in a statement hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission extended the deadline for party’s to conduct their primaries.

The short statement read, “Following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s extension of deadline for the submission of list of candidates by political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby postpones its Special Convention for Presidential Primary from Sunday, 29th-Monday, 30th of May, 2020, to Monday, 6th-Wednesday, 8th of June, 2022.”

INEC announced the extension of the deadline for political parties to conduct their primaries by six days on Friday evening.

The commission had initially announced a deadline of June 3 for the presidential primaries. The extension of the deadline covers the six-day period between June 4 and 9.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has applauded All Progressives Congress, APC, members and supporters in the state for their firm belief in his administration and their unwavering support at all times to ensure victory for the party.

Governor Oyetola stated this in Osogbo the Osun State capital at an event to welcome the new national scribe of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

He expressed joy that the state was able to produce the national secretary, thanking party leaders and members whose efforts helped in achieving the feat.

While soliciting their support for the party in the July 16 Governorship election, Governor Oyetola assured them that more good things are on there way for all in his second term in office.

Earlier, Senator Omisore had described his emergence as APC National Secretary as a victory for all to entrench quality leadership in all ramifications and ensure all-round victory for the party in the next Osun guber polls and in next year’s general elections.

He urged members to continue to work for unity and progress of the party.

Senator Omisore also appreciated party leaders including Senator Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande and all APC governors for their support.

Radio Nigeria reports that party’s faithful trooped out in large number to grace the carnival-like event held at the popular Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, where the seasoned Ife-born politician was given a rousing welcome.
