The Ondo State Government has ordered all public and private institutions in the state to install Close Circuit Television, CCTV on their premises on or before August 1, 2022.

This followed the directive of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu that CCTV should be installed in all public and private institutions across the state as part of the measure to fight insecurity in the state.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the governor said that any institution that failed to comply with the directive would be shut down.

The statement read, “In furtherance of his tireless commitment to strengthen the security architecture of the state toward securing lives and property of the good people of Ondo State, Governor  Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, recently issued an Executive Order making it mandatory for all public places, financial institutions, restaurants, hotels and other lodging facilities, beer – parlors/bars, night club , educational institutions and religious worship centers in all the 18 local government areas of the state to have functional video surveillance/ CCTV equipment installed in strategic locations within their premises.

“This is aimed at assisting security agencies in tracking criminal elements that have been terrorising our environment for some time now.

“This step is no doubt in line with global best practices in Intelligence operations to provide real-time clips on criminal activities.

“To this end, the state government encourages operators and owners to comply on or before August 1 in line with the Executive Order, after which security agencies; particularly the Amotekun Corps, will commence full enforcement.

 “Owners / Proprietors of the above–mentioned premises are hereby enjoined to ensure the safety of all video recordings as any attempt to damage or manipulate such shall be liable to prosecution.”

It further states that, “The failure of any of the concerned operators/owners to comply with this directive will attract the following sanctions: the premises shall be closed down indefinitely and the owner (s) shall be prosecuted.

“I wish to reassure citizens of Nigeria residing in the State that the administration of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will stop at nothing to rid the state of criminal elements.”

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will today, 28th September 2021 sign a bill for the establishment of the state Security Trust Fund into law.

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, indicated that signing the bill into law will further consolidate the efforts of the Governor on securing the lives and property of the people of the state.

The statement reads: “As part of the commitment to sustaining his administration’s efforts and ensuring effective functioning of the security structure in the state, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will be signing into Law the bill for the establishment of the Ondo State Security Trust Fund on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

“Recall that the Governor had signed the bill establishing the Ondo State Security Network, codenamed “Amotekun”, into Law in his first tenure in Office and also recently assented to the Anti-Open grazing bill among several other steps taken by his administration to ensure maximum security of the people of the state.

“The State Security Trust Fund Bill, when signed into law, will, among several other objectives, sustain the gains already recorded on security in the state and enable government source for fund outside its limited resources to strengthen the state’s security architecture,” Olatunde said.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has approved the appointment of the Deji of Akure, His Royal Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi as the Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas.

Oba Aladelusi’s appointment follows the expiration of the two-year single tenure of the immediate past Chairman of the council, Oba (Dr.) Fredrick Eniolorunda Obateru Akinruntan, Olugbo of Ugbo, who was appointed on the 13th September, 2019.

The tenure of the new Chairman starts today, 14th September, 2021.

Governor Akeredolu appreciates the council under the leadership of the erstwhile Chairman, the Olugbo of Ugbo, who did excellently well and gave all necessary support to ensure that the good people of Ondo State enjoy good governance.

The Governor urges the new chairman to improve on the record of his predecessor by working in harmony with his brother Obas and the government in ensuring the development of the state.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has approved the appointment of Princess Catherine Oludunni Odu as Secretary to the State Government.

Princess Odu, a legal practitioner, was the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) before her appointment. She holds the following Degrees: 

• LLM (University of Lagos) 

•Bachelor Of Law(Nigerian Law School) 

•Bachelor of Law(University of Lagos) 

•Master of Science (Industrial Sociology, University of Calabar) and, 

•BSc. Sociology (University of Benin). 

Princess Odu has served in many capacities at both the State and Federal levels. She was Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission and at different times, former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Education respectively. 

Her appointment is in recognition of her proven integrity and outstanding record of performance in her previous assignments.

Similarly, Governor Akeredolu has approved the appointment of the immediate-past Head of the State Public Service, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye as Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties. 

Other appointments approved by the Governor include: 

i. Mrs. Olubunmi Adedipe Ademosu – Special Adviser, Public and Intergovernmental Relations 

ii. Hon. Babatunde Gabriel Kolawole – Special Adviser, Rural and Community Development 

iii. Mr. Summy Smart Francis – Special Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development 

The appointments take immediate effect. 

The appointees will be sworn in by the Governor on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s office Alagbaka, Akure at 1pm. 

Governor Akeredolu congratulates the new appointees while urging them to discharge their duties with utmost responsibilities deserving of the new offices and the accompanying responsibilities.

..Adeyemo steps in as Aragbaiye bows out today

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has approved the appointment of Mr. John Adeniran Adeyemo, MNI, as the Head of the Ondo State Public Service.

The appointment is in recognition of Adeyemo’s track records of years of dedication, trustworthiness, reliability and efficiency. 

Governor Akeredolu’s approval of the appointment is in line with the provisions of Section 208, Sub-section 3 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended).

Prior to his appointment as Head of Service, John Adeyemo,mni, was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Orientation. Adeyemo joined the state public service in 1990 as an Administrative Officer II.

Mr. Adeyemo,mni, was for many years the Chairman of the Administrative Officers Forum ( ADOFOM) where he provided leadership and mentorship for officers in the elite corps administrative officers cadre. 

An astute and experienced administrator, John Adeyemo has traversed almost all the MDAs in the course of his career in the state public service and rose through the ranks to the position of Permanent Secretary before his appointment.

He is a member of many Professional Organisation including: National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) , Nigerian Institute of Management (nim) ,Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (CIPAN) among others. 

While congratulating the new Head of Service, Governor Akeredolu charged him to sustain the current robust relationship among the state workforce, Labour leaders and the government while pursuing excellence in the state public service. 

The new Head of Service will be sworn-in on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the International Centre For Culture and Event (The Dome), Akure.
