Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, while going for robbery operation. 

In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, were arrested when the divisional police officer of Onipanu Division, Mr Bamidele Job was on routine patrol of his area with his men.

According to Mr Oyeyemi, the duo had made an attempt to turn on sighting the policemen, but were stopped by the team who suspected their movements and a search was immediately conducted on them, leading to the recovery of one locally made pistol and one live cartridge as well as assorted charms from them

The suspects, while confessing to being on their way to carry out robbery operation during interrogation, claimed to reside in Abeokuta, but usually operated in Onipanu and Atan Ota area. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command has arrested two men who specialized in snatching motorcycles at gunpoint in Ijebu-Ode and its environs.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known in statement in Abeokuta, said the suspects Joshua Michael and Emeka Nwanga were arrested while making efforts to snatch another motorcycle.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the suspects were apprehended with the support of members of the public while trying to escape arrest when they sighted policemen.

He said the motorcycle rider was rescued from the bandits while a locally made double barrel pistol was recovered for the suspects.

Mr Oyeyemi noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-Robbery Squad ,SARS, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
