The Heads of Local Government Administration, HLA, in Osun State have debunked the rumour that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with the state government on a project.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Forum of Heads of Local Government, Dr. Adewale Adedapo, the forum described the rumour as unsubstantiated lies.

The forum said the lies were being spread by ‘unknown clowns’ who wanted to score cheap political points from unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the statement if any drastic decision is to be made at the local government, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON is the only constitutionally recognized body to do such.

The statement stresses that this will not deter the HLA’s unflinching support for the workers’ friendly administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke towards building a sustainable local government system and bringing dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

Osun State government has approved massive grading of rural roads for local governments in the state.

Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, in Osun State, Mr Samuel Abiodun made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo.

Mr Abiodun said the approval from Governor Adegboyega Oyetola covered over 345 rural roads across the 69 Local Government Areas, Local Council Development Areas, Area Councils, and Administrative Offices in the state.

He explained that the step was part of efforts to stimulate the grassroots economy and ease the transportation of men, material and goods from rural to urban centres.

The Osun ALGON chairman added that the 69 Local Government Chairmen, upon the directive of the governor, had commenced the earth grading of the roads throughout their domains immediately.
