Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, says the Oluyole Free Trade Zone will become a hub of innovation and job creation, driving long-term economic growth for the state.

He made this known during the signing of a Joint Venture Agreement between the state government and a beverages company.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Segun Ogunwuyi, the governor said his administration has focused on strengthening the ease of doing business, improving infrastructure, and opening the state to private-sector investments.

He added that the Free Trade Zone would boost industrial capacity and create thousands of jobs.

Chairman of the beverage company, Mr Tun Tun Win, thanked the governor for providing a business-friendly environment and pledged immediate commencement of operations.

Director-General of the Oyo State Investment and Public-Private Partnership Agency, Mr Tilewa Folami, stated that the project, situated along the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road corridor, would accelerate economic transformation and industrialisation in the state.

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has re-appointed Mr Segun Ogunwuyi as the Chief of Staff, CoS.

The governor has also announced Mr. Sulaiman Olanrewaju of Nigerian Tribune as his new Chief Press Secretary, CPS.

He made the announcement shortly after adopting and signing the report of the Ogunwuyi-led transition committee held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s office, Secretariat, Ibadan. 

Mr Olanrewaju until his new appointment is the Group Business Editor of the Nigerian Tribune.

The Oyo State Executive Council has disclosed plans to launch an integrated security concept to bring together state and non-state security actors to effectively tackle insecurity in the state.


The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Matters, Retired Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state security task force meeting held in Ibadan.


Mr Owoseni explained that the Army, the Police, the DSS, Civil Defense Corps, Amotekun operatives, the OPC, the Vigilante, the Agbekoya, the Soludero, and other state and non-state security actors would be brought under one umbrella to fight crime in Oyo State.


Also speaking, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun hinted that the state government has perfected plans to establish hot spots and strategic policing.


Dr Olatunbosun said the group when launched would be stationed at various troubled spots in the state, especially in areas like Foko, Born Photo, Popo, and other disturbing areas of the state.


In a remark, the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka, maintained that the two concepts would commence very soon.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says his second term will be committed to the execution of more works to move Ondo State forward.

Governor Akeredolu stated this during the 2021 Prayer Summit of the Ondo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, at the First Baptist Church in Akure.

The governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale, noted that more people-oriented projects such as bitumen exploration would add greatly to the state’s value when executed.

The governor admitted that prayers of CAN had really assisted government and urged the spiritual leaders to continue to pray for good governance.

Speaking at the prayer summit with the theme, “More Than Conquerors” the Ondo State CAN Chairman, Reverend Doctor Ayo Oladapo described the summit which started four years ago as an annual event to hand over the government and the state to God.

In attendance were top government functionaries including the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr Temitayo Oluwatuyi, the Chief Judge, Justice Olanrewaju Akeredolu and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi.

The Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has announced the news of the death of Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in a state House press release.
According to the press release:
The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment.
But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.
May God accept his soul.
Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.
