The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Muhammed Adamu wants officers and men of the force not to be discouraged in discharging their duties.

The Inspector-General made this known while addressing the rank and file of Ogun State Police Command at the Eleweran Headquarters of the command in Abeokuta, the state capital during a working tour of Southwest states commands.

Mr Adamu stated that the visit was aimed at boosting the morale of officers and men of the command having suffered some losses during the recent end SARS protest.

The Inspector General of Police said the protest was not only about #EndSARS, but an attempt by some individuals to destabilise the government, and commended the policemen for showing great respect for human lives during the protests.

Mr Adamu who called for urgent action against fake news which he noted triggered the protest and the wanton destruction of property that followed.

Earlier, Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Edward Ajogun informed the IGP that his men have returned to their duty posts, assuring that police officers in Ogun State are being well-motivated.

Three members of a robbery gang who have been terrorizing Iju, Ota and its environs have been apprehended by the men of Ogun State Police Command.

The suspects, Bamidele Oluwashina, Adebowale Kehinde and Oluwasegun Abayomi were arrested following a distress call received by the police at Onipanu Divisional Headquarters that robbers were dispossessing people of their valuables.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement in Abeokuta said the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Onipanu Division, Mr Bamidele Job mobilized his patrol team to the scene and engaged the robbers in a gun duel where the three suspects were promptly arrested.

Mr Oyeyemi pointed out that one locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from them, while one of the victims, Tosin Ajayi who was matcheted on the head by the hoodlums had been taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Ogun State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
