The Field Commander of Western Security Outfit, codenamed ‘Amotekun, Osun State Command, Comrade Amitolu Shittu has resigned.

This is contained in a statement signed by the corps’ Spokesperson, Mr Yusuf Idowu and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

Comrade Amitolu according to the statement tendered his resignation letter at the office of the Secretary to the State Government.

He appreciates the former Governor of the state, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for the opportunity given to him to serve the state, just as he also appreciates the DSS, and a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Mr Segun Olusegun, Journalists, Corps members for their support.

The letter reads in part,”I, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, hereby tender my resignation as the Field Commander, Osun State Security Network Agency & Amotekun Corps today, Friday, 20th January 2023.

As a man of conscience and the eternal grace of Almighty Allah, I give thanks to God for giving me the strength to carry the responsibility of the agency from day one of my appointment as pioneer Director General and the first head of Amotekun in Osun State.

“I will forever be grateful to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the immediate past Executive Governor of Osun State, for the confidence reposed in me and the unrestricted opportunity to contribute my quota to the security development of Osun state.

“Let it be on record that I served my state courageously, impartially, and diligently, despite operational challenges thrown up by the enemy within the top hierarchy of the Corp due to military intrigues, vainglory and egoism, I never give an excuse and I know posterity will be kind to our contribution.”

“As a man of record, attached with this letter of resignation are selected cases and operations executed by the Corps under my leadership. Furthermore all properties, including operational vehicles in my custody is hereby Annexure and attached to this letter and shall be handed over to the Board Chairman of Amotekun, Brigadier General Ademola Aderibigbe (Rtd)”.

The operatives of Osun state chapter of the Western Nigerian Security Network codenamed, Amotekun have arrested a 35-year-old father, Ganiyu Wasiu and his 21-year-old daughter, Muizzat Wasiu with fresh human parts.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the suspects were arrested at Oke-Fia area of Igege town in Olaoluwa Local Government Area when they were conveying the mutilated human parts in a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag.

However, Ganiyu who was prevented from being lynched by an angry mob claimed that he was set up by her daughter’s husband.

When the Field Commandant of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, was contacted, he disclosed that his men made more arrests aside from the two initial suspects.

He said, “Seven more suspects were arrested in Iwo town in connection with the fresh human parts. The identity of the corpse is yet to be known. We arrested Lawal Ibraheem (25yrs), Adiatu Rufus (19yrs), Fatola Niyi (45yrs), Eniola Akeem(42yrs), Chief Amusan (64yrs), Alaba Oyeniran (31yrs) and Oyekola Ibraheem(20yrs).”

Comrade Amitolu confirmed that all the suspects had been handed over to the Department of State Service(DSS) for further investigation.

A 23-year-old Kehinde Babalola has been arrested by the Osun Amotekun Corps for armed robbery and raping of an undergraduate in Okuku, headquarters of Odo-Otin Local Government Area. 

It was gathered that Kehinde was nabbed while he was robbing students in one of the hostels in the Okuku community. 

A source told our correspondent that, after Kehinde robbed a female undergraduate, he raped her, and while forcefully having carnal knowledge of her, some students alerted the Amotekun Corps who arrested him.

The Field Commander of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, when contacted, confirmed the incident. 

Comrade Amitolu said the suspect was caught pants down raping an undergraduate, while armed with a gun, knife, money, phones, and cartridges. 

He also confirmed the arrest of a school dropout, one Timileyin Afolabi, for armed robbery in Oyan community, Odo-Otin local government area.
