The Ondo State Police Command has dragged a 35-year-old herb seller, Taiwo Mufutau, before an Akure family Magistrate court, for allegedly, defiling his 8-year-old biological daughter. Mufutau was arraigned on a single charge of rape, a violation of Section 25(a) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of 2021.

The police prosecutor, Martins Olowofeso, informed the court that “the defendant was apprehended on June 18, 2004, following a report made to the Anti-kidnapping Unit at Alagbaka about the inappropriate relationship between him and his daughter. Olowofeso said that the defendant was subsequently detained for further investigation.

The charge sheet reads: “That you, Mufutau Taiwo, 35, male, on June 5, 2024, at about 4:pm at No. 40 Egbe-Road, Ayedun Quarters, Akure, did have carnal knowledge of your daughter, (name withheld), aged 8 years old, of the same address, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 25(a) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law 2021.”

The Police prosecutor told the court that Taiwo and his wife ran away from their house after the crime and went to Osun State to obtain a fake doctor’s report claiming that nothing happened to the girl.

Olowofeso added that the Police Investigating Officer(IPO), conducted another test in Akure, which revealed that there was penetration and the girl had been bleeding for three days.

According to him, the defendant confessed to the alleged crime during questioning by the investigating officer. The plea of the defendant was not taken due to the nature of the offence.
Olowofeso, through an application, urged the court to remand the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the issuance of advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

But counsel to the defendant, G.O. Omoedu, informed the court that his client was just served and that he would need some time to respond on points of law. Omoedu therefore, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to reply to the remand application.
In her ruling, the trial Magistrate, B.A. Alipohul ordered that the defendant be remanded in police custody. Alipohul thereafter, adjourned the case till July 4, 2024, for hearing.

A 43 year old man identified as Pastor Clinton John has been arrested for allegedly having a carnal knowledge of a 16 year old girl in Agbado area of Ogun State.

The suspect was arrested after the parents of the victim had reported the case at Agbado divisional Police Station.

The parents of the victim told the policemen attached to the division that their daughter after being treated for reoccurring infections, and exhibited frightful tendencies confessed that the suspect had been having carnal knowledge of her since November, 2022.

They claimed that the suspect had allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she ever revealed the cagey affair to anyone.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement said the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that he had time after time had unlawful carnal knowledge of the 16 year old.

She said the victim had been issued with medical forms for treatment and examination while the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for discreet investigation.

A man, Tunde Kareem who allegedly defiled his eleven-year-old daughter has been paraded by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Oyo state command.

He was paraded alongside another suspected paedophile, Amos Michael who also allegedly defiled a ten-year-old girl, at the NSCDC Headquarters at Agodi-gate Ibadan by the command Public Relations Officer, Mrs Oyindamola Okuneye.

The suspected paedophile who lives at Papa, Idi Osan Olodo road, Ibadan, confessed to the police to have had carnal knowledge of his daughter once before his arrest.

Similarly, another suspected paedophile, Amos Micheal who lives at Orire Olasan road, Alakia, Ibadan, defiled a 10 years girl on the 15th of this month 

Amos confessed that he took the girl to a secluded area to perpetrate the act.

It was also gathered that Amos usually visits the girl’s mother’s shop to drink locally made herbs and used the opportunity to get close to the girl.

Parading the suspects, on behalf of NSCDC Commandant, Mr Micheal Adaralewa, the Public Relations Officer Mrs Oyindamola Okuneye said in its quest to track down and maintain zero tolerance for crime and criminalities in the State, the command had put in some mechanisms in all the flash areas of the state.

Mr Adaralewa explained that the corps would maintain its stand on zero tolerance for child abuse and protection of the girl child in the State.

He added that, both suspects pleaded guilty to the offences committed and that they would soon be charged to court after a proper investigation.

Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Taofeek Sulaiman for having unlawful carnal knowledge of his thirteen years old stepdaughter.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Mr Oyeyemi Abimbola, the suspect was arrested after a complaint by the mother of the victim.

The spokesman said the woman complained that her daughter told her that the suspect had been having sex with her and threatening to kill her if she reported it to anyone. 

Mr. Oyeyemi said the victim was taken to Idi Iroko General Hospital by the Police for medical attention.

He also stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole, has directed the transfer of the case to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour for further investigation.

Ogun State Police Command has arrested an 84 years old man, Stephen Jack for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl.

In a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect who resides in the Okunowa area of Ijebu Ode was arrested following a report lodged at Obalende divisional headquarters by the father of the victim, who reported that he discovered that his daughter was bleeding and when he asked the little girl of the cause, she informed him that the suspect had defiled her. 

According to Mr Oyeyemi, the DPO Obalende division, Mr Murphy Salami mobilized his detectives to the scene, where the old man was apprehended. 

He also noted that preliminary investigation had revealed that the old man was a known Pedophile in the area.
The police spokesperson said that the victim had been taken to the General Hospital,  Ijebu Ode for medical treatment. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, had directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for more investigation and possible prosecution.

A 63 year old man, Sunday Igbinokhuaihe has been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command for defiling a two-year-old girl.
It was gathered that the incident happened in Uronigbe, Orhionmwon local government area of the state where the suspect is said to be a neighbour to the parents of the little girl.
The old man was alleged to have lured the girl into his room, using a loaf of bread and thereafter used his finger to break the hymen, while the girl’s mother was in the kitchen preparing dinner.
It was further gathered that the mother of the child noticed that something was amiss, when her daughter screamed while she attempted to bath her later in the evening.
The little girl was said to have described to her mother, how Igbinokhuaihe used his finger on her private part, a situation that prompted the mother to raise alarm that attracted neighbours.
The matter was said to have been reported at the Urhonigbe Police station and the suspect was arrested before he was later transferred to Abudu Police Division.
Igbinokhuaihe was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, of the Edo State Police command in Benin city, where he is currently being detained pending the conclusion of investigation.

Mrs Christaina Tobias has called for the prosecution of her husband Uchenna Tobias from Imo State for allegedly defiling their three daughters. 

Mrs Tobias in an interview with Radio Nigeria appealed to the Rivers State Police command to ensure that her husband faces justice. 

Narrating her ordeal, the mother of four said the incident happened in May this year when she was leaving for the market and asked her ten year old daughter to birth her younger sister but a female neighbor who opted to bath the five year old girl discovered that the child has been penetrated. 

She explained that the neighbour  informed her about it and they took the child to the hospital for medical examination.

The woman explained that when her husband noticed she was aware of his latest atrocities escaped from the house and had not been seen until yesterday when he was arrested.

Mrs Tobias also revealed that she had sometime in 2012 caught her husband  molesting their ten year old daughter who was two years old  then and when she  raised alarm on the matter her mother in-law with her husband beat her up while the village women warned her not to mention the case again. 

The suspect Uchenna Tobias aged 38 years is now in Police net in Port Harcourt.

Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Nnamdi Omoni is yet to respond to the matter as of the time of filing this report.

An Osun State Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Osogbo has ordered that a 62-year-old father, Ogungbemi David, his son, Ogungbemi Idowu and Olayiwola Sarafa be remanded at the correctional centre for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl. 

They were arraigned on three-count charge bothering on conspiracy, rape and sexual exploitation. 

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Idoko John told the court that the suspects committed the offence on May 5, 2020, at Ilare-Ijesa in Ijebu-Ijesa. 

He alleged that they conspired amongst themselves to commit a felony, rape and sexual exploitation thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The prosecutor explained that the three accused person sexually exploited a 14-year-old girl by jointly and severally having sexual intercourse with her, an act responsible for her three month pregnancy. 

He stated further that at the time of perpetrating the act, the three accused persons were members of the same household.

The three accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them. 

The defence counsels, Messrs Popoola Yinka and Tunbosun Oladipupo applied for bail for them in the most liberal term and assured the court that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara ordered that the accused persons to be remanded in police custody and adjourned the case to next week Monday, 18th May 2020 to rule on bail.
