The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated its readiness towards conducting elections into existing vacant constituency seats across the country before the 2023 general elections. 

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti State, Dr Adeniran Tella stated this in Ado Ekiti at a stakeholders’ meeting on the conduct of rerun election into Ekiti East Constituency One.

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, EKHA, Mr Funminiyi Afuye has expressed shock over sudden and untimely death of the member representing Ekiti East Constituency one, Mr Juwa Adegbuyi.

Mr Afuye who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, described Adegbuyi’s death as devastating and a big loss to the state.

Mr Afuye who described the late lawmaker as a complete gentleman pointed out that he represented his constituency well and he was one of the finest and vibrant lawmakers of the sixth Assembly. 

He prayed God to grant the family and Ekiti State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Mr Juwa Adegbuyi died on Saturday’s night during a brief illness.

With this development, Ekiti State House of Assembly now has twenty-five members.
