The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), an umbrella union that regulates and represents the affairs of film actors in Nigeria and abroad, has set out to fight issues of bisexual harassment, rape and molestation in Nollywood, calling on any actor who has been sexually abused, to come out and speak, promising to investigate any case brought to them.

In an Instagram post, the national president of the guild, Emeka Rollas, who spoke for the guild, gave out email addresses that can be reached by anyone who wants to make a complaint.
“The issue of sex for roles, molestations and rape by both gays and bisexuals has become alarming in Nollywood. Following an outburst on Twitter a few weeks ago, bothering on accusations and counteraccusations against some male producers whose sexuality are questionable had prompted the Guild to begin investigation.
“To get to the root of this, we are calling on all sexually abused or molested persons to send in reports to this emails: [email protected] and [email protected] or” Emeka posted.

The post didn’t give a clue to who the guild was referring to, but it will be recalled that last week, Nigerian skit maker and comedian, Abdulgafar Ahmad, popularly known as Cute Abiola, was called out for alleged sex for roles schemes and romantic affairs with curvy Nollywood actress, Omoborty.

Tiwatope Savage, who is famously known as Tiwa Savage, becomes the first female Nigerian celebrity to attain 10 million followers on Instagram.

Tiwa, who has been on the top spot as one of the most followed Nigerian celebrities, is still behind Davido, who is still the most followed Nigerian celebrity on Instagram.

While Tiwa is the most followed female celeb, the next celebrity who is racing after Tiwa Savage and will be the next to attain 10million followers on Instagram is Nollywood Actress Funke Akindele, currently having 9,928,765 followers. Tiwa Savage gaps Funke with a margin of about 70,000 followers.

Nollywood is not smiling. The actors are seeking financial support for some of their colleagues who are currently battling with one illness or the other.

Ernest Asuzu, Victor Olaotan, Pa Kasumu are among entertainers that need help.

Last week, after over three years on a sick bed, a picture of veteran actor Victor Olaotan resurfaced on the internet.

In the portrait, the talented actor’s health condition appears deteriorating as he sat on a wheel chair.

In October 2016, he was involved in an auto accident and suffered nervous system injury.

He was driving to a movie set when the ghastly accident took place around Apple Junction, in Festac, Lagos.

Following his recent photo, colleagues, family, and friends of the actor have reached out for financial assistance.

The 68-year-old actor needs $250,000 for his medical treatment.

Movie practitioner, Emeka Rollas, had reportedly said the reason actors seek for financial assistance is because entertainers are not well paid.

According to him, “for every movie aired on TV stations royalties are paid to producers and not actors.”
