An Ogun State Magistrate Court, sitting in Sagamu, has adjourned the trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in a road crash with heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, to 25th February for further hearing.
The 46-year-old driver was first charged on January 2nd, 2026, before Magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun, facing four counts of charges to include bordering on dangerous driving causing death, reckless driving, driving without due care, causing bodily harm and property damage, as well as driving without a valid national driver’s licence.
During the hearing, prosecution counsel, Mr Nijiwe Richard, had requested an adjournment to allow for duplication of the case file to be sent to the office of the Attorney General through the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The defendant’s counsel, Mr Abiodun Olalekan, who expressed readiness to proceed with the trial.
Magistrate Somefun later granted the adjournment, fixing 25th February for the next hearing, in allowing time for proper legal review while ensuring that the case would proceed fairly.
