Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has sworn in two new commissioners, who were recently confirmed by the state house of assembly.

The two commissioners are Mr Akinwunmi Sowore and Mr Adeboboye Ologbese.

Governor Akeredolu charged them to be dedicated and render laudable services to the good people of the state and shun all forms of distractions.

He also asked the commissioners to be loyal and committed to the party adding that his administration would fulfill all promises made to the people.

Dignitaries at the occasion included Kalasuwe of APOI land Oba Professor Sunday Adejimola, family members of the newly appointed commissioners, and the Chief Judge of Ondo state Justice Williams Akintoye among others.

Political leaders in the Southwest will spare no effort towards strengthening the security architecture in the region to prevent further attacks on the people.

Osun State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, stated this Sunday when he paid a condolence visit to his Ondo State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, at the Government House, Akure, over last Sunday’s terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, in Ondo State.

Governor Oyetola said the visit was in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood as he described the incident as cruel, barbaric and heinous.

He said the attack was a reminder for the leaders to refocus the security direction to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the region.

Responding, Governor Akeredolu appreciated Governor Oyetola for deeming it fit to visit him after he had made several calls to condole the State over the ugly incident.

Governor Akeredolu admitted that the present happenings called for new strategies and approaches, saying the idea of state police should be pursued for effective policing.

Recall that yet-to-be-identified gun-men had last week Sunday unleashed terror on the innocent citizens and worshipers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo leaving many dead and others injured.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa have received jab of the oxford-Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine in Akure, Ondo State capital.

Others, who received the vaccine, are the Deji Of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo and the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba victor Kiladejo as well as some top government functionaries. 

Speaking after receiving the vaccine, Governor Akeredolu hinted that the cold chain for the storage of the covid-19 vaccine remained actively functional in Ondo State.

The Governor who, implored residents of the state to shun rumours and myth about Covid-19 vaccination, enjoined health workers to ensure that people get vaccinated as timely as possible.

While decrying the devastating effects of the dreaded virus that had claimed fifty eight lives including that of the former Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, Akeredolu said among the steps being taken to mitigate the effects of the virus included procurement of testing facilities by the state government

Earlier, the Chairman, Inter-Ministerial Committee on Covid-19, Professor Adesegun Fatusi, said the vaccine was a potent weapon against the pandemic, describing the first batch 73,570 doses in the state as the first out of the four phases of the vaccination.
