Police Command in Ogun State says it has commenced investigation to unravel the killing of a Lecturer of Babcock University, Professor Yinka Olomojobi by unknown gunmen.

The unknown gunmen numbering about eight cladded had last Friday, 19th April, 2024 invaded an event centre on Sagamu road in Iperu area of Ogun State and shot the lecturer on the chest for resisting to go away with them.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the incident in Abeokuta said the security man who was recently employed by the event centre Awada Ishaya had been arrested.

She noted that, the lecturer was taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

The command’s spokesperson gave the assurance that efforts would be intensified to unravel the incessant abduction in area and ensure people behind the heinous crime were brought to book. 

Meanwhile, the management of Babcock University has expressed regret over the death of the Professor of Human Rights Law and gender Law to suspected kidnappers 

The Director, Marketing and Communication of the institution, Dr Joseph Suleiman in a statement restated the resolve of the school to continue to collaborate with all government security and other agencies to ensure the maximum protection of lives and property within and around the University environment.

Police in Lagos have begun an investigation into a circulating sex tape involving minors in Chrisland School.

A mother had earlier claimed that, Chrisland concealed the matter from her.

Her 10-year-old daughter was involved in sexual activity with another male pupil during a trip to Dubai, which was organised by the school to take part in an international competition.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the police in Lagos, said in a statement on Monday that they have begun an investigation into the matter.

The police said their investigation will establish the “identities of the players in the video, the true incident in the video, the geographical location of the incident, the alleged threat to life against a student of the school, and circumstances surrounding the alleged repeated pregnancy tests conducted on a student without parental consent.

“The Command is equally taking cognizance of the cybercrime angle to the whole episode and would not hesitate to enlist the support of the Interpol in case, the need arises.

For a holistic and unbiased investigation, the Command shall be working with relevant ministries, departments, agencies and nongovernmental organizations.

Following the circulation of the children’s sex tape, the Lagos state government ordered the closure of the school.

The school has at least seven branches in the state.

The government also warned those in possession or circulating the sex tape to desist from such acts or be ready to spend 14 years in jail as prescribed by the law.

“In the meantime, all Chrisland schools within Lagos have been closed, for further investigations,”.

Further to the media chat at the scene of crime. Today Thursday 10th February, 2022 at about 1345hrs, a group of masked armed robbers about ten in number trailed, targeted and attacked a bullion van around traffic light area, Idi-Ape junction Agodi, Ibadan.

According to the statement by the PPRO, SP Adewale Osifeso, the armed robbers engaged police officers escorting the bullion van and in the process, an undisclosed amount of money was carted away.

SP Osifeso in swift response, says the police equally neutralized one of the armed robbers while some were believed to have escaped with multiple gunshot injuries.

He says, a civilian onlooker was hit by stray bullet and died at the scene while two Police officers later died in the hospital as a result of gunshot injuries sustained. Four (4) others including Two police officers are responding to treatment.

The PPRO therefore enjoins citizenry not to panic as efforts are in top gear to track down and apprehend the criminal gang, the “Oyo State Police Command seeks the cooperation of the good people of the State in providing necessary information to help maintain the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the State” .
