There was tension in Osogbo, the state capital as rival cult groups clashed and caused panic among residents.
The timely intervention of men of the anti-cultism squad of the Osun State Police Command restored normalcy in the state capital.
Armed with dangerous weapons including guns, cutlasses, broken bottle and stones, the group clashed at popular Gbaemu junction in Osogbo.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that the clash which occurred Sunday evening caused panic among residents of Isale – Aro, Station road, Oke- woru, Oke – Popo and Oja – Oba areas of Osogbo.
According to witness account, the cultists were fighting over money they collected from someone who bought a property around Gbaemu junction.
Men of the Anti-Cultism Squad of the Osun State Police Command responded promptly to distress call by residents and restored peace in the area.
The residents who pleaded to be anonymous urged the state government to find solution to the problem of incessant clashes by cultists and hoodlums in Osogbo and other parts of the state.
