An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the police to detain three alleged mastermind of #EndSARS looting for 14 days. 

This is consequent upon a motion exparte filed by the Commissioner of Police against the alleged masterminds identified as Aishat Mutiu (21), Segun Oyewale and Idris Yinusa seeking more time to keep the three in police custody pending investigation and the arrest of others now at large.

The motion exparte deposed to by Inspector Adebayo Sunday attached to the Crime Scene Section, Osun Police command sought for ten reliefs which were brought under section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations Cap. P19 LFN, 2004 and section 35 (1) of the Constitution Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, Section 292 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Laws of Osun State, 2018. 

The police described the three suspects as key to its investigation of the looting that took place in Osogbo the state capital after the protest.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Awodele granted all the reliefs sought noting that the accused persons should be with the police for 14 days after which they must be arraigned before the court. 

Meanwhile, before today’s arraignment of the 3 suspects, 69 others who allegedly participated in the looting across the 14 local governments of the state had been arraigned at various magistrate courts in the state.

The accused were brought before the courts for various offences ranging from destructive invasion, vandalism, looting and arson, the accused have been detained at the Ilesa correctional centers on the orders of the courts.

However, a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mrs Abiodun Ige affirms that those who yielded the Governor’s offer of amnesty were pardoned as promised by the Governor.

Ogun State Government has concluded arrangements to empower 5000 youths across the state towards unleashing the creative energies of the youths and building a more vibrant economy in the state.

The state Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun who made this known while speaking with newsmen in his Abeokuta, Oke Mosan, office, explained that 250 youths in each of the twenty local government areas of the state would be empowered.

He explained that the state government would build the capacity of the participants as well as giving them monthly stipends, adding that the participants would be attached  to small and medium scale enterprises as well as government agencies.

While debunking rumor that some warehouses were looted in the state, Governor Abiodun said the report was an attempt to malign his administration and called on the people of the state to disregard the report.

The Governor who also urged the people of the state to go about their legitimate businesses, said security agencies would continue to patrol the major streets towards ensuring peace across the state.

Normalcy has returned to osogbo, Osun state capital after yesterday looting spree in the state.

Radio Nigeria correspondent Wasiu Ajadosu reports that men of Nigeria army were positions in strategic places in Osogbo to maintain law and order.

The team are also embarking on routine patrol in the state capital to prevent hoodlums from attacking public and private property as well as looting of goods and materials.

A visit to popular olaiya junction and oke fia in Osogbo revealed that residents complied with the curfew order as there was no vehicular movement in the area.

It would be recalled that Osun state government yesterday re imposed 24 hour curfew in the state following looting spree and civil unrest in the state.
