Healthcare is the most paramount thing any worker should put into consideration, in this sense, journalists have been advised to always go for medical checks to ensure they are in good health condition while carrying out their duties.

Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mansur Liman, gave the advice during a medical outreach for all journalists in the federal capital territory at the radio house in Abuja.

The Director General, represented by the secretary of legal, Dr David Angbazo, said that the health of every journalist was critical to their effectiveness on the job.

In a welcome address, the Chairperson of the NUJ FRCN Headquarters chapel, Mrs Sandra Udeike pointed out that most journalists were usually very busy and sometimes neglect their health, which according to her could be detrimental.

Mrs Udeike gave an assurance that the union would continue to strive for the welfare of its members at all times.

Nigerians have been urged to go for regular medical checks for early detection and preventing themselves from illnesses.

A health official, Laad Medical centre, Mrs Mutiat Efuntade gave the charge at the free medical test organised by Premier FM, Iyaganku Ibadan to mark their 20th Anniversary of the station.

Mrs Efuntade noted that, if people ran regular medical tests, it would prevent them from sicknesses and diseases.

Mrs  Efuntade also stressed the need for Nigerians to worry less of the challenges facing the country, in order to enjoy healthy living.

Speaking, the Acting Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi who enjoined media professionals to give priority to their health, said irrespective of a tight schedule, there was a need to visit the hospitals at least once a month.

General Manager, Premier FM, Alhaji Bashir Omotoso said the free medical test was aimed at enabling people to know the state of their health.

Alhaji Omotoso explained that the majority do not go for medical checks, due to lack of funds, urging people not to be careless with their health.

Beneficiaries of the free medical test who appreciated Premier FM for the opportunity said the checkup enabled them to know the present state of their health.

The Anniversary activities continue tomorrow 29th October 2021 with a football match and Jumaat service.
