Mothers have been admonished to always abide in Christ so as to bear godly fruits.

The wife of the Vicar, Saint Anne’s Church, Molete, Ibadan, Mrs Olaoluyimika Faleye gave the admonition in a sermon in the church’s auditorium in commemoration of this year’s Mothering Sunday.

Speaking on the theme of the sermon,”Go and bear fruits”, Mrs Faleye explained that Good fruits come from hearts filled with the holy spirits.

While making reference to a passage in the Bible, Mrs Faleye who noted that all trees that did not yield good fruits would be cut down, appealed to mothers to surrender themselves to God by being in his presence daily.

“We need to check ourselves as mothers and note if we produce sour taste, bitter taste, overripe taste unripe taste or sweet taste to people around us.”

Mrs Faleye described mothers as teachers, nurses, cooks and security officers, noting that the greatest fruit a woman could yield was to lead people to Christ and raise godly children, pointed out that good fruits came from hearts filled with the Holy Spirit.

Mothering Sunday is a day when daughters are expected to attend their mothers’ churches and celebrate with their mothers. The day is usually celebrated mostly in Orthodox churches on the fourth Sunday in Lent.

Highlights of the service were presentations from the Girls’Guild and Sunday school children, and the mothers who were gaily dressed in white and blue were presented with bowls as they danced to the altar.

The wife of a former Vicar at Saint Anne’s Church,Molete,Ibadan,Mrs Victoria Iluyomade has appealed to women to join hands with their husbands to train their children.
Mrs Iluyomade made the appeal in a sermon at the church service commemorating this year’s Mothering Sunday.
She explained that, it was only when parents jointly trained their children that the children could turn up well.
Mrs Iluyomade while stressing the importance of woman in the house, admonished women to nip in the bud any vices noticed in their children as they ,mothers ,
usually stayed more at home than fathers.
The special service witnessed women carrying out the roles of the wardens,cross bearers,drummers and organists.
The women who were gaily dressed in blue and white attires danced to the beautiful lyrics celebrating motherhood.
Mothering Sunday is celebrated worldwide on the third Sunday in Lent.
On this day, daughters are expected to attend their mother church to worship.
Highlight of the programme was the presentation of gifts to mothers by the wife of the vicar of the church,Mrs Olaoluwayimika Faleye who also led the prayers of intercession.

A preacher at Saint Anne’s church, Molete, Ibadan, Mrs Idowu Ogungbemi  has advised mothers  to continue to train their children to shun the many vices prevalent in the world today.

Mrs Ogungbemi gave the advice in a sermon in the church during  this year’s celebration of mothering Sunday .

Speaking on the theme,”Acceptable Service unto the Lord”,Mrs Ogungbemi said  nurturing a child in a godly way is part of service unto God.

She, therefore, said the evidence of  successful  mother is godly children

She urged mother’s not loose hope over a bad child but continue to pray for such a child until the child changed.

Mothering Sunday which is celebrated annually worldwide on the fourth Sunday of Lent.

It is also a day to honour mothers and mother churches.

On mothering Sunday, Christians are expected to visit their mother churches where they are baptised.

Children are also expected to give their mothers gifts on the occasion of mothering Sunday.

It is observed that at the service only women officiated.

Highlights of the service was the presentation of gifts to mothers who were all gaily  dressed in blue and white.
