Osun state government has announced the payment of cash backlog of outstanding promotion for all categories of workers.

The government has also announced 100 percent implementation of consolidated polytechnic and college of education accademic staff salary structure.

The state governnor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola announced these in osogbo during the 2022 workers’ day celebration in Osun state.

Addressing the workers who appeared in different customized attires, Governor Oyetola noted that workers were pivotal to achievements of every administration hence the need to prioritize their welfare and rights.

Noting that Osun workers were supportive to his administration, he announced various benefiting governent’s decision to workers, including appointment of permanent secretaries in due course, commencement of the process of domestication of 65 years retirement age and commencement of the process of reverting from the current council manager to head of local government and head of department to director at the local government system.

Governnor Oyetola however tasked the workers to reciprocate Governments gesture through dedication and improvement of the state’s internally generated revenue.

Earlier NLC chairman, Mr Jacob Adekomi and his TUC counterpart , Mr Adekola Adebowale had taken turn to express the need for good governance at every level of government for a better nation and welfare of Nigerian workers.

Mr Adekola solicited training and retraining of workers as well as conducive environment.for workers.

“Your Excellency, Please train us. This will improve our knowledge and also prepare us for higher responsibilities”

The two labour keaders however commended governor Oyetola for prompt payment of workers’ salary in the state.

Highlight of the event include match past by workers’ in different groups based on their profession.

Osun State governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has signed the 2022 budget of 129.7 billion naira.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Oyetola commended the legislature for diligent work on the budget and noted that with 83 per cent performance of 2021 budget as at the 3rd quarter, the 2022 budget would witness an improved performance.

Governor Oyetola who said the 2022 budget was developed with a passion for human development and citizens’ welfare, solicited more support from critical stakeholders for improved budget performance.

In his remark, the speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr Timothy Owoeye noted that early presentation of the 2022 appropriation bill to the assembly by the governor gave room for thorough screening of budget proposals by government Ministries, Agencies and Departments.

Mr Owoeye who solicited prompt funding of the Osun Internal Revenue Service, OIRS, stressed the need for revenue-generating agencies and departments to double their efforts.

Earlier in a remark, the Osun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Yinusa Olalekan noted that the budget had input from citizens across the senatorial districts in the state.

The 2022 budget christened “Budget of Sustainable Development” is 17 billion naira higher than the 2021 budget.

It has over 53 billion naira as recurrent expenditure while capital expenditure takes over 75 billion naira.
