Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, will ensure all inputs from market leaders in the State are critically examined before the passage of the Oyo State Market Leaders’ Council Bill.  

Chairman, House Committee on Commerce and Cooperative, Mr. Akintunde Olajide, gave the assurance while speaking with journalists after a public hearing on the Oyo State Market Leaders’ Council Bill, held at the Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan.  

Mr. Olajide said the bill seeks to address issues among traders associations in the state and provide legal framework for the operation of over two million market men and women in the state. 

He said the bill when passed to law would also address leadership tussles among all the traders associations. 

Some of the market leaders who commended the sponsor of the bill, appealed to the lawmakers to be neutral during deliberations and give the bill speedy passage.

Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, has called on the executive arm through the Primary Healthcare Board to urgently improve the condition in Primary Health Centres, PHCs in the state. 

This followed a motion brought to the House by a lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency, Mr. Akintunde Olajide on the urgent need for community healthcare reformation in Oyo state.

In his prayers, Mr. Olajide urged the executive to fully implement policies on primary healthcare for quality service delivery, while appealing to the Assembly to invite relevant stakeholders to the plenary to brief the house. 

Deliberating on the issue, member representing Ibadan North East Constituency 1, Mr. Olamide Akinajo lamented the dilapidated structures of Primary Health Centres, saying many of the PHCs had been affected by the recent flood flashes. 

While the minority leader, Mr. Asimiyu Alarape called for the immediate declaration of state of emergency on the health sector, majority leader of the house, Mr. Sanjo Adedoyin asked for a comprehensive auditing on the monthly stipend released by the state government for the running of primary healthcare. 

In his resolution, speaker of the house, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin summoned the Executive Secretary, Primary Healthcare Board and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello to appear before the house on the 24th of this month to brief it on the state of primary health sector in the pacesetter state. 

The House also passed into law, Local Government Amendment Bill 2019 after it scaled through the second reading.
