Seven passengers were killed in the early hours of Wednesday in a lone accident that involved an 18-passenger bus in Osun State. 

The accident reportedly occurred around 3:45 AM on Ilesa-Ibadan highway when the vehicle which was on a top speed and had head-on collision with a billboard  

It was learnt that the vehicle which was coming from Zamfara State veered off the road and collided with a billboard on the expressway and immediately caught fire. 

The Field Commandant of Osun ‘Amotekun Security Network, Mr. Amitolu Shittu, told Radio Nigeria that, his men were on patrol around 3:45 AM at Ilesha when they sighted the accident vehicle.  

Mr Amitolu said the vehicle carried two motorcycles with passengers who were burnt beyond recognition. 

Similarly, the Sector Commander FRSC Osun State, Mr Paul Okpe confirmed the incident, adding that a white Toyota Hiace was involved in an accident, killing seven people while four burnt beyond recognition.

Four illegal miners have been apprehended by Osun Amotekun Corps while attempting to smuggle some gemstones out of the state.

The Director-General of the corps, Mr Amitolu Shittu, who made this known to newsmen, said the illegal miners were intercepted in Osogbo.

Mr Shittu explained that the miners were moving the stones suspected to be marble from Oba-Oke in Olorunda Local Government Area of the state.

He added that the action of the illegal miners amounted to economic sabotage, urging residents to always report such activities to security officials.

Suspected bandits were on Sunday intercepted by the men of Osun State Amotekun Corps in Ikire.

The suspects who were arrested in commercial bus while trying to forcefully enter the state despite the existing boundary closure.

Speaking with newsmen, the Director-General of Amotekun Corps in Osun State, Mr Amitolu Shittu said the eighteen-passenger bus was filled to capacity.

Mr Amitolu noted that the Amotekun Corps stopped the suspects at a checkpoint around Oyo/Osun boundary in line with ongoing interstate travel restriction by the federal government.

He hinted that the suspects claimed to coming from Lagos and heading to Itagunmodi Mining Site, in Atakunmosa West Local Government area of the state. 

The Director General of Amotekun Corps noted that they had no option than to send them back to where they were coming from.

However different types of assorted charms were recovered from two of the suspected bandits.
