A mother named Zanaib Afeez resident in Osogbo has been assaulted by two of her neighbours over her alleged incessant battering of her own 11-year-old daughter (name withheld).

It was gathered that Zanaib gave birth to the girl during her first marriage in Lagos State before she remarried and relocated to her new matrimonial home at Oke-Onitea, Aiyetoro, Osogbo.

A neighbour told Radio Nigeria that “Zanaib always beat her daughter with sticks, wire and cables, giving her several scars on her body. The new husband did not intervene anytime she beat her daughter because there was a time he condemned her action towards the girl and the man received the beating of his life from the wife”.

“On Saturday, he alleged that her daughter lost a key, thereafter, the girl saw the key but she vowed to beat the girl. With the experience of the girl with molestation, she was afraid, her mother told her to go and grind pepper, she refused and Zanaib poured hot water on her chest and her body.”

“Despite that, she did not feel remorseful of her action and refuse to take care of the girl, her actions infuriated a shop owner and one other neighbour beat her to stupor. They later took the girl to a hospital, pay her bill before the mother was reported to NSCDC official who arrested her.”

The spokesperson of Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corps, Osun State, Mr Daniel Adigun confirmed the incident, saying, “the matter is under investigation, the woman and her daughter are with us.”
