New AIG Zone 17 Visits Akeredolu, Promises Improved Security

The new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 17, in charge of Ondo-Ekiti State, Mr Isaac Akinmoyede says the security agency will bring down the crime rate in Ondo State.

He gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The new AIG who decried the rampant cases of robbery, kidnapping, raping and banditry in the state, however, sought the collaboration among the Police, the sister security agencies and members of the public to address the menace.

AIG Akinmoyede who also appealed to Ondo State government to be of assistance expressed his readiness to work with the local security outfits to get the suspected criminals arrested for the residents to sleep with both eyes closed.

Describing the security of lives and property as the major responsibility of government, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was optimistic that Amotekun Corps would be of great assistance to the police in the zone.

Governor Akeredolu who pledged his continued support for the police reemphasized on the multi-level policing and to allow the newly trained police constabularies to work with Amotekun Corps following the upsurge of criminalities especially in the forests.

Mr Akinmoyede is replacing the pioneer Assistant Inspector-General of Police of the Zone, Mr David Folawiyo.

Take advantage of Community Policing for better security – Governor Oyetola

Osun State Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola says the structure of community policing will enhance the effective security and welfare of the society.

Alhaji Oyetola stated this while inaugurating Community Policing Advisory Committees at the Local Government Service Commission Hall in Osogbo.

He said the idea was borne out of the need to allow the people to participate in policing at the community level to achieve effective, efficient security and safety architecture.

In an address, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Muhammed Adamu called on Nigerians to seize the opportunity presented by community policing to promote peace and security awareness in their respective communities.

Mr Adamu, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General Of Police, Mr David Folawiyo advised the public to use the community policing structure to ensure intelligence gathering to promote communal peace, adding that it offers the best platform for crime-fighting.
