The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Edward Ajogun has promised that the command under his watch will take the battle of crime fighting to the den of criminals and armed robbers.

Mr Ajogun made the promise at the Okemosan Abeokuta Governor’s office during a courtesy visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun. 

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ajogun who was in the company of his predecessor, retired Commissioner of Police Kenneth Ebrimson noted that knowledge and intelligence based operations would be coordinated by officers and men of the command with high level of integrity. 

Mr Ajogun also said the police command would not give room to anyone or group of people bent on destroying government’s property under the guise of protest, warning that any form of protest that could turn ugly would not be tolerated in the state.

Also, the former Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson expressed optimism that the new police commissioner would continue to ensure that the state was more secured and not conducive to criminals.

While giving assurance that his successor would sustain the tempo of security in the state, Mr Ebrimson commended Governor Abiodun for his support towards ensuring that the state under his watch became a tough ground for the criminals.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abidoun commended the former Commissioner of Police for taking proactive steps to curb crime and criminality in the state.

The governor who also explained that the police in the state under the leadership of Mr Ebrimson were able to record a significant decrease in cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery, encouraged the new police commissioner and other security heads in the state to consolidate on the feat.

Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspected highway robbers at Alapako Area along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway for allegedly dispossessing passengers of their belongings.

The suspects, Uzefa Idris, Adamu Yakubu and Ayuba Buhari were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Owode Egba Division that a Mazda bus had been forcefully stopped on the highway by a gang of armed robbers. 

The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, who said in a statement that the suspects took to their heels when they sighted policemen, noted three of the suspects were apprehended in their attempt to escape into the bush.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that two of the victims, Oluwakemi Oyegade and Zacheaus Olaniyi, who narrated their experiences, claimed that they were disposed of the sum five hundred and forty-five thousand naira.

The police spokesman said items recovered from the arrested suspects included the sum of ninety-nine thousand, seven hundred naira and a phone.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, for discreet investigation and prosecution.

Police in Ogun State have arrested a fifty-year-old man, Niyi Omowodun for allegedly for defiling a 12-year-old girl.

The suspect, a resident of Ejigun Agbede, Itele Ota in Ado-Odo Local Government Area of the state was arrested following a complaint at the Itele Divisional Headquarters that her daughter had been sexually abused by the suspect. 

A statement issued in Abeokuta by the spokesman of the state command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi says the suspect who claimed to be a Pastor confessed to be having unlawful carnal knowledge of the little girl. 

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the suspect who also claimed to have separated with his wife since 2016 noted that he lured the small girl into an uncompleted building in the area while the girl was going on an errand.

He pointed out that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

Police in Ogun state have arrested a twenty-two year old vulcanizer, Dele Ope for allegedly stealing an underwear belonging to his client.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested after the owner of the underwear reported the missing item at Warewa division.

Mr Oyeyemi said the woman claimed that she had invited the suspect to assist in fixing her deflated tyre but she discovered that her underwear that she spread on a rope within the compound was missing.

The police spokesman pointed out that the house of the suspect was quickly searched and the woman’s underwear was recovered there in.

Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect confessed stealing the underwear with the intention of taking it to an herbalist for money-making ritual.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered that the suspect be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.

Police in Ogun state have arrested five men for allegedly beating twenty-five-year old Monsur Kareem to death.

A statement made available by the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi explained that the suspects include Toheeb Popoola, Ibrahim Ridwan, Mutiu Tijani, Akeem Ishola and Lawal Afeez.

He hinted that the suspects were arrested after the deceased’s father, Mr. Najeem Kareem, reported that the suspects beat his son to coma following a misunderstanding.

The statement said the deceased was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on arrival.

According to Mr. Oyeyemi preliminary investigation had shown that the deceased was intervening in a misunderstanding between a landlord and a tricycle owner in the area.

The police spokesman said the argument between the two led to one of the suspects inviting others arrested to jointly beat the deceased to coma. 

The statement further noted that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the transfer of the suspects to homicide section for investigation while the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at Ifo General Hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
