The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has flagged off its 3rd quarter nationwide enlightenment campaign with a call on Nigerians to embrace values that will move the nation to greatness.

The event, held at the Ogun State Directorate, Parastatals Building, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, featured a press conference as part of the agency’s renewed effort to sensitise citizens on government policies, programmes, and National values.

Director-General of the Agency, Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, represented by the Deputy Director, NOA Headquarters, Mrs. Aninta Ukamaka, highlighted key focus areas of the campaign, including enlightenment on government policies and activities, the Nigerian Identity Project, respect for national symbols, national security awareness, flooding mitigation, and value reorientation in schools.

Mr. Issa-Onilu expressed concern over the dwindling respect for National symbols, particularly among the younger generation, and emphasized the need to rekindle patriotism.

He also drew attention to the worrisome trend of “sign-out extreme practices” in tertiary institutions, describing them as inimical to the moral upbringing of youths.

On education, the NOA boss enlightened students on the availability of the Federal Government’s Students Loan Scheme under NELFUND, assuring that repayment would only commence after graduation and upon securing employment.

The sensitization exercise, according to the agency, will be carried out across all the twenty local government areas of Ogun state.
