Over five hundred thousand youths across the country have been absorbed into the N-Power Batch C stream 1 exercise.

At the inauguration in Abuja, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq, said the selection criteria, was transparent and credible and urged the participants to utilize the opportunity given to them.

‘‘1,000,000 beneficiaries will be manned from this as the NPower Batch C. Batch C is divided into 2 streams. Stream C1 for 510,000 beneficiaries and stream C2 for 490,000 beneficiaries. Under the Batch C1, a total of 450,000 have been selected to benefit under the graduate component, while 60,000 beneficiaries will be non-graduate beneficiaries’’

‘‘To ensure that the challenges of communication is addressed, most particularly as it relates to limitations on information flow and internet access across the country and in a bid to provide accessibility to all target programme applicants and beneficiaries, the Ministry has concluded to provide access to information via a USSD code’’

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajiya Mariam Katagum who urged the youths to be good ambassadors implore other youths to take advantages of other empowerment programme.

The Minister of Information Alhaji Lai Muhammed noted the program since inception has been a veritable tool for curbing youth’s restiveness

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Ifeoma Anyanwutaku, the Minister stressed the administration objective of lifting Nigerians out of poverty.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the Federal Government for giving them the opportunity to service.

The N-Power program is a component of the National Social Investment Programme, NSIPs initiated in 2016 to address issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development.  

At the initial take off with Batch A in 2016 Three hundred and fifty thousand youths benefitted and consequently three hundred thousand were absorbed in 2017 for Batch B.

The Federal government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs , Disaster Management  and Social Development has flagged off training for Seventy Nine Independent Personnel to monitor the National Social Investment Programme in Oyo state.

The programmes are N-POWER, National Home-Grown School Feeding (NHGSFP), Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP)

Speaking at flag off in Ibadan, the Minister, Hajia Umar Farouq represented by Assistant Director Planning Research and Statistics in the Ministry, Jumai Abdu Ali said the NSIP was introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari with the mandate of lifting citizens out of poverty.

The Minister said the Seventy-Nine candidates were selected across all Local Government Areas in Oyo state to independently monitor how the programs were being implemented in their localities to ensure efficiency.

“For example, the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, we want these monitors to go to schools to observe the kind of food the children are being fed” she said.

Hajia Farouq while noting that the president was being passionate about N-SIP, said the program was all encompassing.

“We know that this program affects daily lives of people. Conditional cash transfer, market money, farmer money Trader money and N-Power for the youths are all among”

She submitted that through the programs, the president had a vision of lifting a hundred million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years.

Some of the beneficiaries Adekambi Timileyin, Ganiyat Lecky and Adeniyi Ajani who thanked the federal government for giving them the opportunity to serve said the training was an eye opener.

The beneficiaries, while describing the task ahead of them as a call to service to the father land, pledged to contribute their quota to national development.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development says registration of Batch C of N-Power has closed on Sunday 9th of August, 2020. 

This is contained in a statement by the Senior Adviser, Strategic Communication of the Ministry, Halima Oyelade.

The statement notes that the registration which commenced on the 26th of June 2020 was initially scheduled to end on the 26th of July but the Ministry extended the date by two weeks to avail those that were unable to do so to apply. 

It states that a total of 5,042,001 Nigerian youths have applied as at the end of the exercise.

According to the statement, the Minister, Sadiya Farouq, has re-assured Nigerians that due diligence will be applied during the next stages of the selection to ensure that only duly qualified applicants are enrolled. 

It also notes that the ministry will ensure that the applicants, as well as the general public, are kept fully informed on the progress of the scheme. 

The statement adds the minister and the ministry remain committed to the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 Hundred million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years and identified the N-Power as one of the platforms that can assist in the realization of that vision.
