Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has applauded All Progressives Congress, APC, members and supporters in the state for their firm belief in his administration and their unwavering support at all times to ensure victory for the party.

Governor Oyetola stated this in Osogbo the Osun State capital at an event to welcome the new national scribe of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

He expressed joy that the state was able to produce the national secretary, thanking party leaders and members whose efforts helped in achieving the feat.

While soliciting their support for the party in the July 16 Governorship election, Governor Oyetola assured them that more good things are on there way for all in his second term in office.

Earlier, Senator Omisore had described his emergence as APC National Secretary as a victory for all to entrench quality leadership in all ramifications and ensure all-round victory for the party in the next Osun guber polls and in next year’s general elections.

He urged members to continue to work for unity and progress of the party.

Senator Omisore also appreciated party leaders including Senator Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande and all APC governors for their support.

Radio Nigeria reports that party’s faithful trooped out in large number to grace the carnival-like event held at the popular Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, where the seasoned Ife-born politician was given a rousing welcome.

Ogun State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole has called on Nigerians to be ready to resume struggle in the event the government increase price of petroleum products.

Comrade Bankole made this known while speaking with newsmen on the aborted industrial action by the labour union.

He said Congress will continue to engage the government to ensure that the demand for removal of corruption and functional refineries before the removal of subsidy are met before any subsidy is removed.

A member of the NLC National Executive Council, Comrade Olatunji Goke while speaking said the economy was in bad shape and workers must strive to ensure that their rights are not denied noting that NLC will continue to protect the interests of its members.

Another NLC NEC member, Comrade Adebayo Akinsipe also urged Nigerians to be vigilant at ensuring that they protect their rights at all times.

The National Secretary, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Comrade Yinka Folarin also noted that civil society would continue to be on the side of the masses.

He advised the people to be alert to resist any increment in the pump price of petroleum.
