Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has expressed his commitment to efforts that will help to reposition the country for greater peace and development as he solicits the support of stakeholders to enable him to emerge as the Presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress APC.

Speaking during a visit to the palace of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, Professor Osinbajo said he had visited the ancient town to inform the people about his intention to succeed President Mohammadu Buhari in 2023.

The Vice President who was accompanied by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance that he had enough experience and the capacity to tackle sensitive issue in government and urged the people of Remo land to embrace the opportunity to produce the next president.

Also, Governor Abiodun pointed out that the educational background of the Vice President, coupled with his experience in various fields of human endeavours especially as a legal practitioner were exceptional attributes to make him a credible presidential Aspirant.

While Urging the people of Remo land to give the vice-president the maximum support, Governor Abiodun prayed God to help him in achieving his dreams and aspirations.

Responding, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, oba Babatunde Ajayi commended Professor Osinbajo for discharging his duties diligently and expressed optimism that he would emerge as the next president of the Nigeria to bring immense development to the country.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo also paid visit to members of All Progressive Congress, APC and Yewa land Traditional Rulers at the Palace of Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle.

While addressing the Monarchs and Party Faithful in Ilaro, the Vice President said his ambition of becoming the next President of the country is borne out of calls made by Nigerians .

Professor Osinbajo said his failure to yield to the call of the people would be a serious disservice to the nation.

The vice-president explained that President Muhammad Buhari led administration had made tremendous progress in various sectors, stressing that his capacity as Vice President had given him the opportunity to understand some of the areas that needed to be addressed.

While soliciting for the support of the people of Yewa land in achieving his aspiration, Professor Osinbajo expressed optimism that his many years experience as an accomplished legal practitioner would serve as an impetus.

Also, Ogun state Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun who appreciated the traditional rulers for their support, urged them to continue to pray for the vice-president in actualizing his dream.

Responding, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba kehinde Olugbenle commended the vice-president for his selfless service to the nation.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has solicited the support of traditional rulers in the state in sensitizing the people to embrace COVID 19 vaccination and participate actively in the on-going Continuous Voters’ Registration exercise.

Governor Abiodun made the call at the inauguration of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi as the New Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas.

Governor Abiodun while encouraging the traditional rulers to support the Government in the fight against the pandemic by preaching strict adherence to the safety measures and health protocols among the people promised that the state would soon commence Mass COVID 19 vaccination for residents. 

While urging the royal fathers to be wary of their utterances and association ahead of the 2023 general election, Governor Abiodun called on the traditional rulers to use their sacred offices to engender the peaceful atmosphere for the successful conduct of the elections. 

In his acceptance speech, the New Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Babatunde Ajayi who said that the role of traditional rulers in community development could not be over emphasized, advocated the need for collaborative efforts to ensuring peaceful coexistence across the state.

One person has been feared dead as scores of residents of Sagamu staged a protest over the death of Remo Stars Football Club player, Tiamiyu Kazeem.

The protesters stormed the Palace of the Akarigbo and the Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, demanding justice for the deceased.

The protesters condemned the incessant brutality and indiscriminate arrests by law enforcement agencies in the town and its environs. 

A former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, was among dignitaries that addressed the protesters at the palace where he urged them to be law-abiding.

The member, House of Representatives representing Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Mrs. Adewunmi Onanuga, and the state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Funmi Efuwape, were also at the palace to appeal to the protesters.

Meanwhile, armed policemen have been deployed in the town to forestall a breakdown of law and order.

The cause of the death of the protesters is still sketchy as at the time of this report.

Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, Alhaji Abimbola Oyeyemi has not been successful as his phone line had been continually busy.
