The Ogun State House of Assembly, OGHA, has screened nominees of Governor Dapo Abiodun for appointment into the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, OGSIEC.

The Assembly charged the nominees to ensure credible and transparent local government elections in the state.

Those screened included Mr Babatunde Osibodu, Mr Tunji Akoni, Mr Ayodele Bankole, Mrs Gbemisola Onasanya and Mrs Oluwaremilekun Olaopa.

Presiding over the exercise at the Assembly Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, the Speaker, Mr Oludaisi Elemide, commended the nominees for their track records and past contributions to the commission.

Mr Elemide urged them to improve on previous performances and address observed shortcomings in past electoral exercises.

The speaker emphasised the need for transparency and credibility in future local government elections.

He also called on the nominees to draw lessons from past elections and work towards achieving peaceful electoral processes in the state.

Responding on behalf of the nominees, the Chairman-designate, Mr Babatunde Osibodu, appreciated the Assembly for the confidence reposed in them.

He assured that the Commission would build on its achievements and deliver improved electoral outcomes.
