The Ogun State Muslim Council, OMC, wants the faithful to remain steadfast, increase their devotion and embrace good deeds in a bid to maximise the gains of Ramadan.

In a message to the people, as Muslims observe this year’s Ramadan, the council also encouraged Nigerians to avoid provocations and untoward behaviours under the guise of protesting the challenging economic realities.

The OMC, in a statement by its Secretary General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde equally urged the government to ensure sincerity and ingenuity in the efforts to enable the people to overcome the prevailing hardship occasioned by the current economic challenges.

The Council implored Nigerians to uphold patience, understanding, perseverance, sacrifice and patriotic attitude while emphasizing that Ramadan was a season of mercy, generosity and benevolence, that also required self restraint, obedience and discipline.

The body advised food vendors and marketers against hiking food prices as well as hoarding and adulteration of food stuff for economic gains.

Similarly, the Ogun State Muslim Council has described the coinciding Ramadan fasting and the Christian Lenten period

a good omen, urging followers of both faith to pray fervently for the nation’s leaders and the nation to be able to get out of the woods.
