The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery incident that occurred at a filling station where an attendant was shot dead.

The filling station, located along Oba-Ile Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital, was attacked on Tuesday night.

The identity of the victim could not be ascertained when the incident occurred late yesterday.

Spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro confirmed the incident, said the two persons had been apprehended immediately after the incident.

Mr Ikoro noted that Ondo State will not be a hiding place for criminals, stressing that the command is ready to do everything possible to ensure protection of lives and property.

Following reported kidnapping of some travelers in Owo-Akoko axis, the Ondo state Police command has deployed over three thousand of its men and officers to carry out special patrols on the highways.

This is part of the steps by the command to ensure hitch-free festive period in the state.

Speaking on security situation ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph said the state commissioner of Police, Mr. Adie Undie had been holding security meeting with top officers of the command on how to tackle kidnapping during and after the festive period.

The police spokesman who expressed sadness over the kidnapping of travelers on Owo-Oba-Ikare Akoko road, vowed that men of the command would rescue those abducted on the highway last weekend.

Mr. Joseph noted that policemen would also be deployed to strategic locations during the Christmas celebration to forestall break down of law and order in all the 18 Local Government areas of Ondo state.
