An Osun Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo the state capital has ordered the remand of a civil servant, Ayenioye Samson, 46, and a theater practitioner, Amoke Tunde, 38, for allegedly raping a teenager.

A Principal State Counsel, Mr Bankole Awoyemi applied to the court to take over the case from the police prosecutor.

According to the charge sheet the suspects were said to have committed the offence in February 2020 at a hotel located in Latona Area of Osogbo.

The two accused persons were alleged to have indecently assaulted and had unlawful carnal knowledge of a sixteen-year-old girl.

The offence is contrary to and punishable under section 31(1) (2) of the Child Right Law of Osun State 2007, section 516 and 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002. 

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the allegations preferred against them.

Defence Counsel, Mrs Abimbola Ige applied for the bail of the accused persons in most liberal terms.

Chief Abimbola further stressed that the accused persons would provide reliable sureties if granted bail.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Badmus directed the police prosecutor to handover the case file to the State Counsel and ordered the remand of the accused persons in Ilesa Correctional Center.

He thereafter adjourned the case till 4th of November for ruling on bail and November 19, 2020 for hearing.

An Osun Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo the state capital has ordered the remand of a 35 year old man Femi Michael over allegedly molesting minor. 

Police prosecutor, inspector Adeoye Kayode told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Sunday at about 8:00pm at Kolawole Street Esuyale compound Osogbo. 

He alleged that the offence committed by the accused person was contrary and punishable under section 249(D), 359 and 222 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2020. 

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Defence Counsel, Mr Emmanuel Nwoke applied for the bail of the accused person in most liberal term. 

However, the prosecutor opposed the bail application made by the Counsel on the ground that the victim was an infant adding that the pedophilia is rampant in the society.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Ajala ordered the remand of the accused person in Ilesa correctional center

He thereby adjourned the matter till October 16th for ruling on bail the application.

An Osun State Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun state capital has ordered a former National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Mr Kenneth Udeze to be rearraigned before it on December 1st, 2020.

Mr Udeze and three other members of the AA are facing trial over alleged forgery, conspiracy and fraud.

Others who appeared before Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku who presided over the court were Adepoju Adetunji, Olufemi Olanibi and Ogunmodede Adeloye.

The former National Chairman of the Alliance Action had earlier been remanded in prison custody after he was arraigned before the court.

Mr Udeze who was recently sacked by the leadership of the AA, was arrested by operatives of Zone 11 of the Nigerian Police Force, with headquarters in Osogbo.

The former AA National Chairman was alleged to have replaced the name of the duly elected governorship candidate of the party in Osun State with another person during the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Appearing before the court, the politician and other defendants were told to perfect their bail, as the court granted them bail in the sum of ₦500,000.00 and two sureties not below Grade Level 10 in the state civil service.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr M.O Olaniyan had urged the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal term and this was not opposed by the counsel to the complainant, Mr K.A Salawu.

After granting the accused bail, the Magistrate, Mrs Ajanaku adjourned the case to December 1st 2020 for rearraignment and hearing.

An Osun Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo the state capital has ordered the remand of one 20-year old man, Mumini Huseeni for stealing a motorcycle at Police Barracks Osogbo.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Adepoju Kayode told the court that the defendant committed the offence early this month at about 10:30pm

He alleged that the motorcycle, a Jincheng valued #100,000, stolen by the defendant was the property of one Sergeant Ashiru Idris. 

According to the charge sheet the offence committed is contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9)(10A) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002 

The defendant who had no legal representation admitted the allegation preferred against him by the police.

In her ruling, Magistrate Modupe Awodele ordered the remand of the accused person in Ilesa Correctional Center.

She thereby adjourned the case till 27 July, 2020 for sentencing.
