Wasiu Ajadosu of Radio Nigeria Gold FM has emerged the Chairman of Osun State Council of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists.

 Wasiu Ajadosu polled 136 votes of the total votes cast to defeat his opponent, Dele Ajayi of the Unique FM, Ilesa who polled 59.

Ajadosu was the Vice Chairman of the council during the tenure of the immediate past Chairman Mr Kehinde Ayatunji.

The seat became vacant after the resignation Mr Kehinde Ayantunji who was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Students’ Affairs and Social Mobilisation.

Meanwhile, chairman NUJ, FRCN Ibadan chapel, Alhaji Nafiu Busari has congratulated Ajadosu for the feat achieved.

He prayed for him to have a successful tenure and urged him to uphold the standard of FRCN .

In the same vein, Oyo State Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Mr Olaolu Fawole urged the Osun new NUJ chairman to use his office to fight the course of the pen profession.

Also reacting, Vice President, Zone B, National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Mrs Morenike Esan congratulated the FRCN family for gaining more grounds in NUJ politics and urged the new chairman to brace up for the task ahead of him.

Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Osun state chapter, has lauded Governor Gboyega Oyetola, for appointing the state Chairman of Osun State Council, Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ, Mr Kehinde Ayantunji, as the Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs and Social Mobilization. 

A statement by the Acting Chairman and Secretary of the Chapel, Mr Richard Akintade and Mr Lateef Dada, described the appointment as well deserving one.

According to the statement, the appointment of Ayantunji has further showed that Governor Gboyega Oyetola, gives preference to merit and competency. 

It noted that Ayantuji would bring his age-long experience in both students’ activism and journalism to bear in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The statement expressed optimism that the appointment of Ayantunji would further cement the relationship between the media and the government without compromise the rights of the citizens.
