Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye has called on Muslims to exploit the Holy Month of Ramadan to intensify concentrated prayers to the Almighty Allah.

While wishing all Muslims a successful Ibaadat (religious obligation), Alhaji Igbalaye, in a Ramadan message, urged them to use the period to rededicate their prayers to Almighty Allah in order to make life easier for all.

Osun Scribe also admonished Muslims to imbibe the teachings of the Holy month by being conscious of Allah and giving gifts to the needy and the less privileged.

He further urged the people to use the Ramadan period to repent from all sins and other social vices by following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

Alhaji Igbalaye also requested the Muslims to intercede for a total end to terrorism, armed banditry, kidnapping and other crimes bedevilling some parts of the country and the nation in general so that the people would benefit from the dividends of democracy.

He appealed to traders and people engaged in selling essential commodities to cut down prices throughout the blessed month and beyond so as to benefit from Allah’s rewards.

He assured the residents of Osun that the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke will continue to uphold all the Islamic norms and values, according to the teachings of Islam, to govern the state.

The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, who made this known through a press statement in Osogbo also confirmed the discovery of 10 additional cases in the state.

Dr Isamotu also added that one patient had equally been discharged after testing negative for the virus.

The commissioner noted that one of the reasons for the sudden rise in the Covid-19 cases in the state was largely due to the nonchalant attitude of residents to the laid-down precautionary measures against the spread of the virus.

Dr Isamotu hinted that there were strong reasons to believe the state now has community transmission around Ilesa axis of the state, warning that unless citizens and residents change their ways, the government might be forced to impose another lockdown on the state.

While noting that the 11 new cases were from the contact tracing of previous cases in the state, the Health Commissioner also revealed that with the latest development, the number of confirmed cases in the state had risen to 127 with 74 active cases.
