“Today, he is the first-ever three-term senator in our state with lots of lofty achievements. Asaaju Olubadan of Ibadanland is genuinely passionate to serve the people of Oyo State. Alhaji Kolawole noted that he accepted to be the Director General of the campaign council because of the calibre of candidates the party has produced.
“I humbly accept the enviable but onerous opportunity to serve as Director-General of the 2023 Oyo APC Campaign Council because the party is fielding her best eleven as presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates for the upcoming elections. Everyone knows Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his qualitative leadership and track of excellent performance as a public administrator, he will undoubtedly reposition Nigeria for the betterment of the downtrodden masses”.

“Unlike the incumbent administration in the state, APC government under my administration will not give flimsy excuses to justify failures in education, health, agriculture, security, environment and other sectors of Oyo State economy. I want to declare that there is no “FAILURE” in our dictionary”.
“I sincerely assure citizens and residents of Oyo State that Oyo APC will engage in issue-based campaign as we do not believe in violence and propaganda to win elections. It’s TKF O’CLOCK to forward Oyo State from the nadir to the apex of good governance”.

Stakeholders in Oyo APC have started reacting to the postponement of the South Senatorial District primary election scheduled for this Saturday.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the election was postponed following confusion over the delegates list and allegation that an illegal accreditation was ongoing at an unofficial venue around UCH axis, Ibadan.
Reacting to the postponement, one of the aspirant and son in law to Late Abiola Ajimobi, Kolapo Kola-Diasi said he hoped the exercise would eventually hold tomorrow (Sunday), expressing confidence that he would win the Senatorial ticket of the party.
On the alleged illegal accreditation, Kolapo Kola-Diasi said he was not aware of anything of sort.
“We hope that we are able to conduct the primary tomorrow (Sunday). Things like this happen from time to time, so it’s okay. I’m not aware, this is the venue we were told to come to and this is where we have been all time. I’m not aware of any other venue that accreditation was being held.
“I think we have a good chance. We’ve done a lot of work, been working for the past couple of years or so. I think we have a good chance”.
On his part, another aspirant, who is a former commissioner for finance, Mr Bimbo Adekanmbi said he had no issue with the postponement as long as things were done right.
“We understand that the committee from Abuja expressed some degree of discomfort with the crowd and are concerned about their safety and they requested that it be rescheduled for tomorrow (Sunday)”.
Our correspondent reports that the incumbent lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District, who is also aspiring to return, Kola Balogun endured intimidation after unpleasant songs were directed at him by some party members.
He, however, said he was not bothered about what happened at the venue.
“I am a matured politician. I’ve been in this game for quite some time. So, when you are on the winning side, you don’t bother yourself to quarrel. I want the process to hold because I know that I will win”.
“My appeal to the people of Oyo South now is for them to remain calm because we have to have this process concluded before we can have election proper and I know that people are waiting for APC”.
Kolapo Kola-Diasi, Kola Balogun, Bimbo Adekanmbi, Adegboyega Adegoke and Soji Akanbi were at the venue before the postponement of the exercise.
The last might not have been heard of the leadership crisis in the All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo State as the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan adjourned sitting on a case filed before Hon. Justice Uche Nma Agomoh till Tuesday 21st of June.
The case for hearing on a matter brought before it by a chieftain of the party in Oyo state, Alhaji Kayode Adanla was against the national leadership of the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Oyo State chapter of the APC, state chairman of the party and five others as co-defendants.
The suit marked FHC/IB/CS/56/2022 is asking the court to among other things look into the controversies surrounding the election, appointment, and composition of executive members of the Oyo State chapter.
Also, the appellant filed an application for an order of injunction restraining the respondents, particularly the 3rd, 6th, 7th & 8th respondents from parading themselves as chairman and members in Oyo State pending the determination of the substantive suit.
In her ruling, Hon. Justice Uche Nma Agomoh said that the court would determine the jurisdiction or otherwise to entertain the matter.
The claimant/applicant, Alhaji Kayode Adanla is approaching the court to determine whether the first defendant along with his officials was right to have removed his name from the list of validly elected officials of the party from the state Congress of APC held at the Liberty Stadium on the 30th of October, 2021, where he claimed to have been unanimously elected and returned as the state organizing secretary of the party in the said election.
Notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, on Thursday, held a peace meeting aimed at resolving the crisis rocking the party in the state.
The meeting, which was held at the residence of the wife of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Florence Ajimobi, had the state chairman, Isaac Omodewu, Senator Ayo Adeseun, former Deputy Governor, Moses Alake, and others in attendance.
The party had been having crisis in the state since the congress which produced Omodewu in October. But on the eve of the national convention of the party, a factional chairman, Abu Gbadamosi, was inaugurated.
The state chairman, Omodewu, expressed delight at the move to broker peace, saying that would reposition the party to wrest power form Governor Seyi Makinde in 2023.
Omodewu said, “I can only say we are here to reconcile all members of our party in the state.
“As the state chairman, I will appreciate if the two factions can come together as one, so as for us to end the current administration of Seyi Makinde in 2023. I can assure you that the resolution will favour everyone in the party.”
One of the party leaders, who had vehemently rejected Omodewu’s leadership, Ayo Adeseun, also told journalists at the end of the meeting that the opposition party must ensure that they become united to win the governorship election in 2023.
Adeseun said, “Today, Her Excellency, Florence Ajimobi, the wife of our departed leader, invited all of us to see how we can work together and find a way out of the quagmire.
“We are aware that the national leadership of our party is working on this but whatever the decision they come up with, we need to seek the cooperation of every single person of the party at all levels, from the ward to the local government, and to the state, for us to succeed in our singular onerous target of ensuring that come 2023, the Seyi Makinde’s administration is put to an end.
“We don’t want this state to remain in the hand of people like him anymore. We have resolved and God willing, we are going to work together.
“The problem we are having has to do with the process that was very faulty, which will be revisited. We have to make necessary adjustments to ensure that we unitedly focus on our challenges.
“Though the challenges are still there, I don’t want anyone to misread us. We are going to set up a committee that is going to delve into the issues that are at hand, make necessary adjustments and come up with unified party.
“All we are saying is that we want arrangements that all of us can work together. We are going to resolve all the issues.”
Ajimobi’s wife expressed delight at the coming together of the leaders of the party to resolve the crisis, describing it as a defining moment for the opposition party.
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Oyo State, Engineer Joseph Tegbe has given reasons why he left the party for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.
Engineer Tegbe, a top contender for the 2018 governorship ticket and chieftain of the APC whose defection has sent shock waves to the APC fold, said he left the party that brought him to the limelight due to the crisis in State APC which he said was further fuelled by the national leadership of the party, who he accused of supporting the minority in hijacking the party structure contrary to the desire of the majority.
A statement from Tegbe who is believed would be contesting for the Oyo Central Senatorial seat on the platform of his new party and addressed to APC members in Oyo state reads:
“Good people of Oyo state.
“Many years ago, I made a commitment to always contribute to the development of our society in whatever God-given capacity. In 2018, after serving government in different non-political capacities, I offered to serve Oyo state as Governor, on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). This decision was based on my commitment to offering my wealth of experience to the entrenchment of good governance and development in our dear state.
“Though I was a frontrunner in the 2018 campaign, I agreed to step down as a team player and continued to make my contribution to the party. Unfortunately, the recent developments in the Oyo APC have become worrisome. We watched a minority hijack the party structure, backed by some powers at the top. We saw congress results, democratically agreed at Ward and LG level being altered to favour this minority group. Efforts to make the National Leadership of the party see reasons have yielded no fruits. A house divided against itself cannot stand.
“After careful consideration and deliberation with my support groups, I have resigned my membership in APC. Thank you for your understanding”
A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, on Friday, swore in Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, as parallel chairman of the party. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Trans Wonderland Plc, popularly known as Amusement Park, Bodija, Ibadan. The oath was administered on Gbadamosi by Barr. kehinde Owoade of MFN chambers.
Former Oyo State Commissioner of Heath and APC Governorship aspirant,Dr. Azeez Adeduntan has thrown his weight behind direct primaries as the mode of electing parties candidates for the 2023 general elections as proposed by the National Assembly. Dr. Adeduntan, an International Cardiovascular surgeon also decried the misrepresentation of facts by some Governors regarding COVID-19 and direct primaries. In a statement in Ibadan, Dr Adeduntan hailed the decision of the National Assembly to propose direct primaries for the political parties come 2023 emphasising that both the indirect and consensus methods are evil, undemocratic ,corruption laden and have failed Nigerians since 1999. “See quagmire in OYO state where 2021-delegates lists were forged and altered, see Anambra state where APC has not won a single local government because of the process that brought Andy Uba in.” “As democrats, we found the decision cheering and encouraging and we are therefore shocked that anybody who lays claim to democracy or desire to lead the people would find the decision to let the people decide as a threat or discomforting.” “Direct Primary is an inclusive way of deciding who flies the party flag with all bonafide members of the party having a chance to make their choice. It gives meaning to membership of the party as followers are included in taking vital decision like who represents their party in the general election “. The Osi Basorun of Ibadan land advised Governors Kayode Fayemi of EKiti state ,Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state as well as Yahaya Bello of Kogi state not to sell misrepresentation of facts to the public and the presidency, regarding Covid 19 and direct primaries. He said Progressive Governors Forum are factually incorrect by their statements and assertions on covid 19 and direct primaries. “It’s very surprising that Governor Bello who denied that his state had COVID 19 at the peak of covid 19 pandemic ;and who never believed in the existence of the pandemic ,will now be hiding behind COVID 19 -thus selling fears to the Nigerian public because of self interest”. “Governor Bello was even quoted to have said that direct primaries will cause conflicts between the leaders and the people”. Both positions are opposite in effect relative to the putative advantages of direct primaries compared to indirect and consensus methods of primaries.” “The governors are hereby put on notice for the sake of public health and education, that direct primaries can be conducted in Nigeria despite COVID-19 as long as the precautionary measures are taken into consideration. “ He said this is evidenced by the successful direct primaries and Presidential elections in the USA in year 2020 where more than 150 million Americans exercised their franchise by voting directly for their choice candidates notwithstanding raging covid 19 infections at that time ,worse than in Nigeria then and as at now. “Some party leaders who have benefited from the corruption inherent in indirect and consensus methods of candidate selection, are even challenging the electoral act as the provisionstherein especially direct primaries ,run against their parties constitutions. “It is trite in law ,that you must amend your party’s constitution to fit into the Nigeria’s constitution, else, your law is null and void”- Osi Basorun Adeduntan stated that he has no aversion to indirect and consensus primaries as he had participated in both ,other that they are in our clime”corrupt means of candidate selection, amenable to fraud and electoral corruption; as well as a rape on voters as an unwanted and unpopular candidate can be foisted on the electorate”.
The outgoing Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state, Chief Akin Oke, has assured that the party would emerge stronger from the current crisis characterising the emergence of the new set of State Executive Committee members.
Speaking to a section of the media at the State Secretariat of the Oyo APC in Oke-Ado, Ibadan today after the meeting of party leaders held in compliance with a directive from the APC's national secretariat, Chief Oke played down the possibility of Oyo APC going into war with itself ahead of the 2023 general election.
"At the peace meeting which we attended at the national secretariat of our Party last week, we were directed to come back home and sort things out. The national secretary, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, mandated us to ask the zonal leaders to revalidate the initial harmonized list to reflect the input of all tendencies.
More than 40 critical stakeholders were at the Abuja meeting and the Secretary was very apt in his address.
"The zonal leaders swung into action immediately and they communicated their efforts to me through phone conversations. I must reveal that the national secretariat had a telephone conference with Chief Alao-Akala and myself on Wednesday during which the peace template was re-established.
I later engaged the former governor on a private phone conversation and we both agreed to a physical meeting on Friday (today) with the zonal leaders to review what they might have done in their respective zones.
"But to my surprise, Chief Alao-Akala issued a statement the same day where he announced that the meeting for the ratification of harmonized lists drawn from all the seven zones would take place in his private residence and invited unauthorized persons in clear negation of the directive we got from Abuja. The question to ask here is; when did the APC become the property of an individual? It seems the former governor mistakes the 'A' in the acronym of our party for either Alao or Akala.
"Nevertheless, he remains my brother and a critical stakeholder in our Party unless he is trying to say otherwise. Nine out of the eleven members of the Harmonization Committee came to the Party Secretariat today (Friday) to do the needful and they all signed the documents generated.
At this juncture, I must state that my brother (Bayo Akala) should learn to leave above board and stop polarising the Progressive family. I understand he has finally unmasked himself as the brain behind the plot to cause schism in our party and I find this very disappointing.
"If he thinks the best thing to do at a time like this is to make himself the godfather of one out of about 15 governorship aspirants, I wish him well. Meanwhile, It is very disappointing that he could employ funny tactics to aid those whose only wish is to hijack the party for their own selfish ambitions but I can assure the whole world that the committed Progressives would not watch and allow them destroy their heritage.
"What they did at Alao-Akala's residence today was just to further manifest their undemocratic traits. They brought the same Lawan Gambo and his friends as Appeal Committee members today and we have confirmed that the national Secretariat did not send them to the state for any assignment.
Just last week, Gambo was put to shame in the open when it was established that the delegate list he brought to us the last time was fake. In the end, justice will prevail and all the anti-democratic forces in our Party will be exposed.
"As a matter of fact, we are in regular contact with the national secretariat of our party and we have been asked to bring the authentic harmonized list of state Executive Committee which would reflect the true wish of the generality of party membership. To this end, I urge genuine party faithful and the general public to remain calm as everything will be alright in no time." Oke stated.

Men of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed to the Oyo State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, located at Oke-Ado area of Ibadan after some party faithful protested the outcome of last Saturday’s state Congress where new executives were elected.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent who was at the secretariat reported that the gate of the secretariat was under lock while men of the Nigeria Police Force were seen in two vehicles stationed at the secretariat to maintain peace and order.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent who spoke with some of the protesters alleged that a stalwart of the party has hijacked the affairs of the party.
They pointed out that the present situation in the party might have adverse effects on APC during the 2023 elections.
The protesters called on the national secretariat of the APC to restructure the party in Oyo state and to carry every stakeholder along in the affairs of the state.
The continuous postponement of congress of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State may spell doom for the party in the State in 2023 General Election.
This is contained in a statement in Ibadan made available to newsmen by former Oyo State Commissioner for Health and APC Governorship aspirant, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan.
Dr. Adeduntan decried the factors responsible for the postponement of the congress on 3 occasions which included scheming by various caucuses within the party, stressing that if care is not taken, the development may cause another bad outing for the party come 2023.
The Harvard-trained International cardiovascular surgeon cautioned stakeholders in the party especially gladiators, schemers as well as caucuses to sheath their swords and think first about the survival of the party as well as success in the 2023 election.
“The problem of Oyo APC now is that of gladiators, schemers and caucuses”.
“Ordinarily, there is nothing wrong with caucuses in any political system except a do or die caucus”.
“The schemers and evil caucuses are dangerous to any political system anywhere in the world.”
Dr Adeduntan noted that it was unfortunate that a congress that has been held successfully in most of the states has now been postponed three times in Oyo State due to selfish interests, emphasising that whether any one schemes, cut corners in order to get ahead, “we must remember at all times that power, life and death belong to the Almighty God”.
The Oyo State Governorship hopeful said emphatically that he did not belong to any caucus except the caucus of “God, who is the Kingmaker, the party membership and the people of Oyo State who are yearning for good governance and the dividends of democracy.”
“There is no critical stakeholder in Oyo State APC, except God and party members. Anything to the contrary is a delusion”.
Dr. Adeduntan who is the Osi Basorun of Ibadanland advised his colleagues to put their trust in God and toe the line of honour in order to move Oyo State APC forward and prevent the whole world from seeing the party in the state as a laughing stock, difficult, unruly and ungovernable.
“God is the only one that knows the future with certainty. We must do the needful by closing ranks and let the Congress hold without future postponement”.
The congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, slated for this Saturday has again been postponed.
Report says that the congress could not hold last week over alleged falsification of documents and be scheduled to hold this Saturday.
Announcing the postponement, Prince Olaide Akínrẹ̀mí, who represents Ibadan North Federal Constituency, made this known at the party Secretariat in Abuja a few minutes ago.
The new date for the Oyo APC state congress is now Saturday, 7th November 2021.
There seems to be an end in sight to the crisis rocking the fold of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oyo State as stakeholders in Ibadan converged to resolve their grievances.
At the meeting, aggrieved members let out their grievances on factors that led to the party’s failures in the 2019 governorship elections in the state.
They however, resolved to chart a common front and remain united in order to clinch power in 2023 general elections.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, one of the party chieftains, Alhaji Kayode Ádánlá noted that with the outcome of the meeting, APC is the party to beat come 2023 in Oyo State.
in his own opinion, former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Prof. Taoreed Adedoja, who noted that grievances were normal occurrence in big parties like APC, urged members to braze up and mobilize for the upcoming registration of members.
Party Stalwarts present at the meeting include APC Governorship Candidate in 2019, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Chairman, Caretaker Committee in Oyo State, Chief Akin Oke among others.
