Oyo state government says it is targeting one hundred bed-spaces in designated isolation centres on the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Oyo state.

The state presently has one confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed this during an on the spot assessment of the Chest Clinic Jericho, Ibadan which has now be converted to Isolation center by the state government.

Speaking with journalists, Governor Makinnde expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the center pointing out that the clinic has ten-bed spaces for suspected victims.

Governor Makinde explained that Covid-19 center at the University College Hospital, Ibadan has five-bed spaces with another center at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

The governor explained that the government would put necessary facilities in place at the Olodo Maternity Centre changed to Covid-19 center.

Conducting the governor round the Jericho center, a member of the Oyo state Task Force on Covid-19, Dr. Taiwo Ladipo said the environment of the center was conducive with a good water system and functional generator.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has flagged off Free Health Mission for residents in all the 33 local government areas of the state with a call on council chairmen to channel 7.5 per cent of their fund to Primary Health Care service. 

The medical mission which is to cover all local government areas of Oyo state was kicked off at Local Authority Primary School, Agede, Kisi in Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo state.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Makinde noted that the decay in the health sector over the last few decades necessitated the need to embark on a free health intervention accessible to the grassroots.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Bello, stated that the ongoing recruitment of healthcare workers would help in achieving a hitch-free medical mission.

The Iba of Kisi, Oba Lawal Arowoduye the 2nd who spoke on behalf of traditional rulers in Oke-Ogun said the presence of the governor at the occasion indicated that Governor Makinde led administration has the well-being of the people of the state at heart.

The governor later inspected the ongoing construction project of Moniya-Iseyin road and declared the work level satisfactory.

The governor equally inaugurated the Police Mobile force No. 72 Squadron headquarters at Ago Are, ATISBO local government.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has signed the State Security Network Agency Bill 2020 codenamed “Amoketun” into law. 

Governor Makinde gave the assent in a ceremony at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Ibadan.

Shortly after the signing, Governor Makinde warned those with criminal intent to steer clear of Oyo state and the South West region as more efforts would be geared towards reducing crime in the state.

The governor also called for cooperation in ensuring a safer environment to create an investment-friendly place that would guarantee a decent return on investment. 

While appreciating the regular security agencies for their effort at providing security, the governor said the new security network would complement the regular security agencies. 

With all dressed in leopard skin fabric design, the speaker, some members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, members of the state executive council and stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, attended the signing ceremony.
