The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Oyo State Command has arrested one Onome Samuel  male age 21yrs from Delta State for robbery with a locally made Pistol on 29th of July 2021 around 9:30pm Olomi Academy area of Ibadan Oyo State.

Parading the suspect at the State Command Headquarters Agodi Ibadan, Commandant Michael Adaralewa made it known that Onome Samuel and his 3 men gang team who specialized in robbing the innocent citizens of their properties was arrested by men of NSCDC patrolling the area after the suspect was nabbed and about to be set ablaze by the mammoth crowd.

“It is an offence to put law into our hands, whenever a suspect is apprehended let’s hand over to the Security agencies around and stop jungle justice,” said Commandant Adaralewa.

Meanwhile, Commandant Michael Adaralewa stressed further by saying that the other two members of the gang Sodiq and Toheeb who were at large at the time of the arrest were made to know that they all based in Ikorodu Lagos State and Onome Samuel confessed that he used to connect with his team on phone when they wanted to go on an operation.

Exhibits recovered from the suspect includes one locally made Pistol which he said he bought for ₦50, 000, and four live cartridges.

After the completion of the investigation, the suspect would be handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigations and prosecution.

Though NSCDC has the mandate to prosecute any criminal offences but, because it involved robbery and two other suspects were at large, this would enable the police to probe further on the activities of the suspect who came to rob in Ibadan from neighbouring state.

Commandant Adaralewa assured the good people of Oyo State adequate security of lives and property as the men of NSCDC will intensify effort in patrolling every nook and cranny of the State as well as collaborate with sister agencies to rid of the State’s Criminal elements in our Community.

Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr Iskilu Akinsanya has deployed about two thousand officers and men of the corps to all places of worship, markets, recreation areas and highways to beef up security before, during and after the Eid-El-Fitri festival to allow citizens have hitch-free celebrations across the state.

Disclosing this on Tuesday at the Command State Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, during this year annual strategic meeting of all intelligence officers of the NSCDC across the 33 local governments and 35 LCDAs, Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya, enjoined intelligence officers to be more proactive in providing security.

Meanwhile, as the festivities is usually accompanied by movement of persons and vehicles that require special and elaborate security arrangements to ensure that celebrations are hitch free and successful, the Oyo State NSCDC Commandant announced that all entry points to the state would be policed while disaster management officers and command ambulance would be on standby throughout the Eid-El-Fitri celebration. 

Mr. Akinsanya called on the Muslim faithful in Oyo State to be law abiding during the celebrations and enjoined them to always remember the importance of unity, love and religious tolerance towards the promotion of growth and development of the country.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Oyo State Command has deployed two thousand five hundred personnel to all areas in the state for a crime-free Easter celebrations. 

This is contained in a statement signed in Ibadan by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr. Oluwole Olusegun.

In the statement, Oyo State NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Iskilu Akinsanya stays that the deployment of the officers to all the 33 Local Government Areas and 35 LCDAs of the state became imperative so as to enable the Christian faithful to have a good festival.

Mr Akinsanya also called all Area Commanders, Divisional officers and personnel of the Corps to beef up security in their vicinity before, during and after the festive period.

Meanwhile, the commandant has directed the Disaster Management Unit to always have the command’s ambulance and personnel on highways for rescue during the celebration, the Agro Rangers squad and the Counter-Terrorism Unit have also been deployed to all the nooks and crannies of the state to prevent crime and criminality during Easter celebration.

Commandant Akinsanya urged Nigerians irrespective of their religion to be law abiding.

He also enjoined the Christian faithful to reflect on the lesson of the Passion, Suffering, Forgiveness and Love of Christ learnt during the lent and also pray for peace in our nation and success of the present government.

The Oyo State NSCDC Commandant also enjoined the general public to volunteer information to Nigeria Security and Civil Defence officers and men near to them or call the Control room on 09070473188, 09055533303 and 08077513995 whenever they suspected any strange movement or suspicious around them.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has called for total and loyal commitment among its officers and men to collectively fight against the insecurity bedeviling the country.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State, Mr Iskilu Akinsanya stated this at the end of the year party of the command held at its headquarters, in Agodi Ibadan.

He said as the command is celebrating the outgoing year, distinguished officers have also been recognised for a job well done during the year.

Mr Iskilu said some gallant officers have been performing optimally, hence the need for others to cultivate the habit of working professional in other for them to be recognised.

The NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State said the officers that died in active service this year would always be remembered for their brave acts while alive.

While declaring the event open, NSCDC Deputy Commander General, Mr Shem Obafaiye said the command had performed optimally in the year 2020 despite numerous challenges.

Mr Obafaiye therefore urged the officers and men of the command not to rest on their oars in their efforts to bring crime and criminality to the barest minimum in Oyo State.

Some distinguished officers of NSCDC were recognised for their effectiveness while discharging their duty.

Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, has stressed the importance of adequate security in ensuring credible elections.

Chairman, OYSIEC, Aare Isiaka Olagunju stated this during a courtesy visit to the office of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State, Ibadan, to familiarise with the security apparatus ahead of local government election in the state.

While reiterating the commitment of the commission to conduct an election that would be free of voter harassment and intimidation, Aare Olagunju noted that such could not be achieved without the collaboration of security agencies, hence the need for the visit.

Aare Olagunju, added that the commission would not relent in its awareness and advocacy drive on the importance of massive participation of the citizens of Oyo State at the electoral process at the grassroots.

In a remark, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya, assured the populace of security of lives and property before, during and after the conduct of local government council polls.

He encouraged the commission to always update the corps about its activities for them to play their role as expected.
