A 43 year old man identified as Pastor Clinton John has been arrested for allegedly having a carnal knowledge of a 16 year old girl in Agbado area of Ogun State.

The suspect was arrested after the parents of the victim had reported the case at Agbado divisional Police Station.

The parents of the victim told the policemen attached to the division that their daughter after being treated for reoccurring infections, and exhibited frightful tendencies confessed that the suspect had been having carnal knowledge of her since November, 2022.

They claimed that the suspect had allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she ever revealed the cagey affair to anyone.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement said the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that he had time after time had unlawful carnal knowledge of the 16 year old.

She said the victim had been issued with medical forms for treatment and examination while the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for discreet investigation.

Prominent Ugandan religious leader and businessman Aloysius Bugingo has survived an attack by unknown gunmen who killed his bodyguard in the capital, Kampala.

The gunmen opened fire on Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle while he was going home on Tuesday night along Namungoona area. The attackers later escaped the scene on a motorcycle.

Despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Mr Bugingo managed to drive the vehicle to a nearby hospital, police said.

The pastor’s bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza, succumbed to bullet wounds, according to police.

“We are thoroughly reviewing CCTV footage to identify the assailants,” police said, adding that they discovered the scene had been tampered with.

Police have described the incident as an attempted murder.

Pastor Bugingo, founder of House of Prayer Ministries International, is a strong supporter of the ruling party in Uganda.

The motive of the attack is not yet known but Uganda has recently recorded unprecedented gun violence that saw several prominent persons shot dead in Kampala.

Ogun State Police command has arrested Pastor Peter Taiwo of a Church Abeokuta and his wife Elizabeth for allegedly conniving to defile a 16 year old choir member of the church.

The Command’s Spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspects were arrested after the victims had reported the incident at Adatan divisional headquarters.

Mr Oyeyemi said the victim told the policemen that she had gone to the church for choir practice when the pastor’s wife said her husband wanted to send her on errand.

The victim claimed that the pastor’s wife allegedly locked door and the pastor forcefully had sex with her. 

The command’s spokesman said the couple confessed to the crime blaming the devil for the incident and pleaded for forgiveness from the victim. 

He said the victim had been taken to  hospital by the police for medical treatment. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation, with the view to charge them to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
