As Christians in the world all over mark Good Friday, faithfuls have been admonished to emulate the virtues and attributes of Jesus Christ for a better Society.

This was the submission of those who spoke on the Essence of Good Friday to christians.

Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

From the early days of Christianity, Good Friday was observed as a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting, a characteristic that finds it’s expression in the German word Karfreitag “Sorrowful Friday”.

In his reaction, A clerygman, Pastor Muyiwa Ayeni said Christ was peaceful, loving and sacrificed his life to redeem mankind from destruction to eternal life, therefore Christians must learn to sacrifice for the good of all.

Pastor Ayeni stressed that the only way to reciprocate the love of God towards mankind was to love their neighbours as themselves and be at peace with one another.

Responding on Non- Consumption of flesh by some People on Good Friday, the Cleric said eating or non- consumption of flesh is not a sin but most importantly for faithfuls to follow the will of Almighty God.

Corroborating his view, Member Osun House of Assembly Representing Ifedayo state constituency , Mrs Adenike Abioye explained that Non – consumption of Meat by some people is an after thought which is based on personal conviction.

Speaking on Easter celebration which conotes redemption and restoration, Mrs Abioye prayed God to restore the lost glory of the Nation, stressing God’s favour and mercies had sustained the Nation as an entity.
