The second person that was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday night by unknown gunmen along Omoh/Erin-Ijesha road in Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State has been rescued.

In a telephone interview with Radio Nigeria, the Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO of the Osun Police Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola confirmed the development.

Mrs Opalola said the success was the result of a combined rescue mission of the police, Amotekun, Hunters and Vigilante outfits that combed the forest since the incident was reported on Sunday.

She however said no arrest was made, but the police was on the trail of the kidnappers.

Two persons were kidnapped on Sunday, while one was rescued on Sunday night, the other was yesterday rescued late on Tuesday by security men.

It was gathered that the kidnappers absconded and left the hostage when they saw intimidating numbers of security operatives towards moving them.

There was confusion around Koko area of Iree community in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State on Tuesday when a 21-year-old student of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti identified as Faderera Oloyede was reportedly found dead in the room of his lover, Maliki Ayo, a student of Osun State Polytechnic. 

Radio Nigeria gathered that the incident happened around half past noon when Faderera a 300-level Mathematics Education student of FUOYE visited his lover in the company of her friend, Adekemi Adewumi.

The host, Maliki who is now at large prepared rice which the three of them reportedly ate.

It was gathered that the deceased started complaining of stomach discomfort in the course of the meal, forcing Adewumi to rally round her to seek for a cure but eventually, she died in the room. 

It was further learnt from neighbours who declined mentioning their names that the lover, Maliki when he noticed that the girl was not breathing again he allegedly abandoned the two guests and took to his heels.

According to the source, one of the neighbours of Maliki identified just as Alhaji Abubakar reported the incident at a police station in the community. 

Maliki was reported to be a student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree and has been living in the area for a while now, a claim the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Tope Abiola denied.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Osun State Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident, adding that the corpse had been evacuated.  

Mrs Opalola said a friend of the deceased, named Adewumi was arrested, while Maliki who they visited overnight and prepared the rice was at large. 

The corpse of Faderera had been deposited to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
