The founder of Sotitobire Praising chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa has said he would not relent in praying to God to expose whoever stole Gold Kolawole in his church two years ago. 

Prophet Alfa stated this after he was given a rousing welcome by members of his church upon his release from the Olokuta correctional centre. 

The church members had converged on the church premises in Oshinle to welcome him from the olokuta prison where he had been since December, 2019 before the court of appeal sitting in Akure last week upturned the life imprisonment handed him over the case of the missing child. 

He described his travails as a conspiracy by some people and lamented that he was picked from the altar to the prison. 

Prophet Alfa who looked Fresher and fatter was released from the prison yesterday evening after perfecting his exit papers from the correctional home.

He was received at the main entrance of the correctional centre by his counsel, Mr. Akinyele Omoware, his wife, Bisola, some members of Sotitobire church, friends and well-wishers.

The Founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa and six members of his church members have concluded their defence in their ongoing trial before an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure over the alleged disappearance of one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole at the church in November, last year.

Counsel to the defendants, Akinyemi Omoware announced the decision of the Defense team after they had called the 15th witness, Olayinka Abolade a videographer, on the 7th day of hearing in the case.

The trial Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola fixed the 14th September, this year for adoption of addresses by all parties and appealed for strict adherence to the timeline.

The judge said he would not allow any counsel to compromise the case as he was committed to justice.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adekola Olawoye led the prosecution while Akinyemi Omoware, who stood in for the Defense team, thanked the judge for his commitment to speedy adjudication of the case.

The founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa has opened his defence in his on-going trial at an Ondo High Court in Akure over the alleged disappearance of one year old Gold Kolawole in the church last year.

Prophet Alfa’s counsel, Olusola Oke announced to the court that 20 witnesses would give testimony for him and 6 other defendants to absolve them of complicity in the disappearance of Gold.

The lead Prosecutor and Commissioner for Justice, Adekola Olawoye said the Prosecution would not tolerate any attempt to waste time.

The first witness to give testimony was Evangelist Bisola Alfa, the Prophet’s wife, who said her husband showed concern and took action to find the missing boy before he became a guest of the DSS contrary to insinuations. 

But under cross examination by the lead Prosecutor and Commissioner for Justice Adekola Olawoye, Mrs Bisola Alfa said she had always put her wards in children department.

Also, while being cross examined, Bisola said her husband never told her he suspected anybody of complicity in the case but a statement by the prophet already tendered as exhibit indicated that he suspected the 4th defendant, Grace Ogunjobi of a foul play in the incident.

The second witness was a pastor in the church, Oluwasiji Olaniyi who said they all prayed in the church overnight the day the baby got missing.

Babatunde and his co- defendants are standing trial on a three count charge to include conspiracy to aid and abet Kidnapping, Kidnapping and destroying evidence and the case has been adjourned till Monday for continuation of defence.
