Eleven Abducted Abuja-Kaduna Train Passengers Regain Freedom

Eleven persons have regained their freedom out of the 61 people kidnapped on March 28, during the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train.

Those who regained their freedom are five males and six females.

This was made known by the spokesman of the Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Mallam Tukur Mamu, who has been involved in the negotiation for the release of the victims.

He said the victims were released on Saturday afternoon at a forest, and have been flown to Abuja.

According to him, the eleven victims were released on health grounds.

Those released are Jessy John, Amina Ba’aba Mohammed (Gamba), Rashida Yusuf Busari, and Hannah Ajewole.

Others include Najib Mohammed Daiharu, Gaius Gambo, Hassan Aliyu, Peace Boy and Danjuma Sa’idu.

Gumi Urges FG to Meet Demands of Abuja-Kaduna Train Victims Abductors

Renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has advised the Federal Government to pay ransom to the terrorists holding the 62 abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train.

Gumi also advised the government to deal with the bandits with caution because of kidnapped victims in their den.

“You have the opportunity to deal with them the way they deserve because when they have captives, you have to tread with caution so that their captives will not be injured,” he said

Bandits had on March 28 attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train, killed nine passengers, and abducted over 62 others.

A few days after, bandits released the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture due to age factor.

The bandits who have released several videos of the kidnapped victims had told the Federal Government to negotiate with them, but not monetary ransom.

However, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, during the special prayers organized for the victims by the Jama’iyyar Matan Arewa (JMA), in Kaduna, told the Federal Government to pay ransom to the bandits

According to him, “Just imagine now, people are paying up to N25 billion to buy forms instead of using the money to pay ransom for poor Nigerians who cannot pay.

“Whatever they want, give it to them, so that they release these people and when they release them, then you have the liberty.”
